off2paradise Posted August 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Sailing from Quebec this fall and we're interested in checking out hotels in Quebec that will have a beautiful night time view of Hotel Frontenac. Any suggestions?
ellieanne Posted August 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2017 I stayed at the Hotel Champlain last year and my room had a view of the back of the Chateau Frontenac. I really loved it the morning we boarding the ship because there was a fog that rolled in around sunrise and I have some gorgeous pictures of the top of the "tower" appearing above the fog in the pinky-purple morning light. Caribbean Chris Posted August 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2017 If you want a spectacular view of the hotel and great photo ops, stroll down or ride the funicular to sightsee in the lower town and spend a little time to ride the ferry across the St. Lawrence to Levis and back (about $6 RT, IIRC). Brittany C Posted August 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2017 I enjoyed a stay at Hotel 71, which is a former bank, with a nice view to Frontenac from my window. Enjoy! ~Brittany
moorerf Posted August 8, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2017 We stayed in the hotel and really enjoyed it. Our room had a side view of river and we could see the cruise ships which was lovely. I would check out staying there.
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted August 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2017 If your ship has an overnight stay, you'll have a great view of the Frontenac from the Promenade deck.
navybankerteacher Posted August 8, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2017 If your ship has an overnight stay, you'll have a great view of the Frontenac from the Promenade deck. Great point - so if you are in Quebec the night before, you should focus more on location/other amenities. Lots of options on rue Ste. Anne. off2paradise Posted August 9, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Thanks for all these suggestions! We've been to Quebec as a port stop several times. First time we pulled into port to find an inch of snow in October! The horse & carriage ride was so romantic! This time we leave from Quebec and are staying 2 nights pre-cruise. I thought I would prefer to stay in Frontenac but then realized when my husband stayed for business at the Marriott, the pic he sent from his window of Frontenac lit up at night was gorgeous! That's the view I want! Our friends would like something a bit more economical, so we will check out your suggestions! Thanks!
SetAnOpenCourse Posted August 9, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 9, 2017 There are a lot of lodging options with a view of Frontenac soon after you step outside. I know this isnt what you asked, but IMHO, I wouldn't ignore those options.
off2paradise Posted October 2, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Thank you everyone! We took a chance a few weeks ago and booked the Hotel Manior Morgan. For those of you familiar with Quebec, it is the old tourist information center across the park from Hotel Frontenac! When we booked it wasn't even open yet. We were a bit apprehensive of a hotel with no photos or reviews. Made some calls and the new pictures look good. I get the view of Frontenac, it's all new inside and our friends have a view of the river. I hope to post my opinion of this new hotel in a few weeks. navybankerteacher Posted October 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Actually, it is hard to be anywhere in the old city without being steps away from a great view of the Chateau Frontenac. If you go to the promenade, near the top of the funicular to the lower town, you will be 50 yards away - with a great photo op, and if you turn around you can look down upon your ship. SetAnOpenCourse Posted October 2, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 2, 2017 off2paradise, glad you found the particular view you want from your room. Hope to read your review, and when you do post it, it would be interesting to know about how many of that hotel's rooms offer that view. (Although for me, seeing Frontenac during a stroll is pleasant enough!)
