Don't bother. They do not work at sea once you get out of the coverage area. I've taken both Sirius and XM, when they were separate companies, and they stopped working about an hour out of Ft Lauderdale or Miami and about 1/2 hour out of Los Angeles or San Diego.

Thanks for the info and link. He has a balcony so could possibly have had direct line of site.

 

The satellite is in a geosynchronous orbit over the equator. It would have to be a direct line of site to the exact position of the satellite. So it may work at some times, but likely not work at others.
