Are there shady areas?

If we take a taxi to town (Mahajual), are there any shady areas along the beach? I love being near the water but burn like a lobster very fast. Really prefer to be able to sit under an umbrella, palapa, or something like that. Any advice?

My red headed son with very fair skin also does not tan, he freckles and burns, so we look for shade as well. There was plenty of shade for us when we were there in March, even along the beach in Mahahual.

 

Lots of trees and palapas where we stopped.

Karen_g-Although you will find more shade (nature & man made) along that beach than most beaches have, ya need to watch for the suns rays being reflected off of the water. You will cooked "well done" before ya know it. We were in Costa Maya in November and found a lot of folks suffering from just that. Hope y'all have a super great time.

Thanks for the words of warning. I will wear my Bullfrog SPF 45, but still will try to stay in the shade! :)
