I get emails all the time asking if there will be another Hounds cruise in 2005 (yeah, some of us are really addicted!)

I've been sniffing around for a month now trying to come up with something really cool that everybody would like and I think I"ve finaly found it!!!

We've sailed the Carnival Glory (Glory Hounds).... We're sailing RCI's Mariner of the Sea (Royal Hounds) this Fall, it only seems fitting that we kick it up one more notch and bring the party to the **NEW** Caribbean Princess! We were docked across from the Grand Princess (sister ship) last time in Cozumel and that ship is GORGEOUS! I have set the ball into motion to create the first Cruise Critic group on this amazing new ship and hope all of my Hounds friends will come along for the 3rd Annual Hounds sailing! I also want to invite anybody who loves to cruise to join our group. We just simply love to cruise and love cruising with other fun-loving cruise addicts! Come on, you know you wanna go!

My travel agent was telling me about that ship, they have an outdoor movie theater on the pool deck and they play movies at night under the stars. They have some really great pricing for the fall of this year going on right now too.

I want to thank you for all your patience, I don't have all the info just yet but I do have a bone to toss...(punn intended)

The date is officially set in stone for 9/17/05. As you know, we also looked at 10/15 but the ammenitiy points (how you get your group perks) were not as good and the pricing for groups was substanially higher.

As you know, Princess does not do the $25pp deposits that we have enjoyed having on Carnival and RCI. But ... I think what they have given us is BETTER!!! When booking with a $25pp deposit, all you could book was a guarentee meaning you were at the mercy of the cruiseline to select your cabin. If you wanted to select your cabin, you'd have to put the full $250pp down which was $500 for a double occupancy cabin.

With Princess, we will be able to book with only a $100 per person deposit AND we will be able to select a specific cabin number at the time of booking! How amazing is that!! Right now they have set up two weeks for us to book at the reduced deposit: May 24th- 28th and June 21st - 25th. Basically the last week of May and June. Crucon is still negotiating to open up the $100pp deposit for additional booking times but let's not count on it as it's not guaranteed.

Also, if you book during those two specific weeks, you will also get a discount coupon book that will be in your cabin upon check in. I am told that the coupon book has some great discounts in it but they're highly controled so they don't even send them out with the documents, they only put them in the cabins according to booking numbers.

They are putting the finish touches on the pricing, all I am told is that it is really, Really, REALLY good so be ready to book next week! You'll have a week to figure out what cabin you want.
But, besides great pricing we will be getting a cocktail party AND....
$100 SHIPBOARD CREDIT PER CABIN!!!!!!!

Peggy, great question!! There are probably a lot of people who were wondernig the same thing. Basically it means when you board the ship, you will have a $100 FREE credit per cabin on your sea pass card. So in essence, it does mean you're actually saving another $100 on your cabin! Since the credit is per cabin, it breaks down to $50pp of free spending on the ship! Pammy - have 2 napkins out, because my hubby is drooling also! If we did not book during either of those weeks, we would then pay the $250 deposit, but still get the great prices and amenities? I am contacting my last group of cruisers from Sept., so it may be a group for 4 cabins. Peggy, that sounds great! That's what so fun about going with a group is that you meet new friends and when you go again, you can invite your past cruise friends too! The only thing you loose out on is the bonus coupon book that you get for booking withing the special weeks. Wow! Great prices Pammy. You are going to turn this mutt into a hound even before I board the Mariner.

I can't swing the May deposit but I'll discuss it with the DW (boss) and should be good to go for the June bookings. Not really fussy on locations as long as a balcony is involved.

But does anyone have knowledge of Princess ships and cabin locations? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. (I have one co-worker who has already been aboard this ship). Plus I'll pass along any I may get here.

The rate for the category BB is only $ 40 more per person at a rate of $ 789 pp (double occupancy).

Deposits are $ 100 per person - a quad would only need to deposit $ 400 for the cabin.

Deposits are fully refundable until final payment - as always with CruCon's policy.

Princess offers insurance that is based on the price of the cruise. Crucon also offer a new insurance called "Itravelinsured" and would be happy to give a quote to anyone interested. Remember, anyone with any pre-existing medical condition typically need to purchase insurance within a week of depositing, but all others do not need to decide until final payment. Princess' insurance does not cover for pre-existing medical conditions so keep that in mind.

Feel free to deposit with a TBA at this time (if you need to find a roomie but want to secure a cabin now). Names must be provided as soon as possible. Princess reserves the right to close any sailing off and restrict name changes.

I think the most amazing part of this new bit of info is that triples and quads can book for only $100pp as well! That is a HUGE benefit to families!!!!!
