ColoradoKaren Posted September 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2009 I don't post often but have sailed on Royal Caribbean twice before. We have a reservation on the Independence of the Seas for January and just changed to room #6710. I've seen posts saying that cabins all the way aft have the advantage of larger balconies, but what are the disadvantages? Anyone familiar with this room? Thanks! maggieworkman Posted September 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2009 I've been researching aft cabins and the cons I have come across are 1) its a long walk to the aft 2) soot on balcony 3) you have to look through the superstructure of the ship. cb at sea Posted September 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2009 Voyager and Freedom class ship's "aft" balconies don't have a straight down view to the water...you will overlook the wake, but you'll have to look past the hull of the ship....before you see the view! It IS a long walk to the aft, but you do get a deeper balcony than the side balconies! I wouldn't worry about "soot" too much....you have towels---wipe things off if needed!
