Quebec City in the Rain

While we will be hoping for a nice sunny day in Quebec City when our cruise stops there, should it be a rainy day, what would our best option be for spending the day? If the weather is nice we simply plan to wander the city and see as much as we can in the time we will have.

On two visits to Quebec we encountered entire days of rain. The first time we were on a guided tour, wore mostly waterproof clothing and were able to get out of the rain for the guide's explanations. The second time we were on our own and spent the day in the old town. Again, waterproof clothing, an umbrella or head covering were life savers. We had no problem going in and out of the shops, church, restaurants, etc... The streets are hilly and can get slick when wet. Just be careful. Quebec is beautiful...rain or shine.

We were interrupted by hurricane Kyle last year and ended up with 9 days of rain (basically the whole trip). On a positive note, it gave us 2 days in Quebec. The first day we wandered through the old city. We had been there before and had taken a tour. However, since we had a 2nd day, we took a guided tour that took us to the old city, the falls and a couple of other places. 8 hour tour....we expected it to be a little long and perhaps laborious; however, our guide was wonderful and it was one of the best days ever, despite the rain.

We were in this beautiful city in July & it rained most of the day. In the morning, we took a 2 hour tour of the city highlights, We usually don't like bus tours, but this allowed us to see the sights. We got off the bus in the upper town area & it stopped raining. We spent the rest of the day walking through upper & lower town. The flowers were everywhere & the singers on the boardwalk were great. We had lunch in lower town, rode the funicular, visited the Hotel Frontenac and watched the artists at work. It was a great day!
