Cruising Cat19 Posted September 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2009 We are booked on Insignia for the 23 July 2010 cruise from London to Copenhagen. Does anyone have info on how to get from London airports to Dover? We have recently completed a cruise starting and ending in Copenhagen. The taxi service is great and cost us $40-$45 total. They even have larger taxis which accomodate 4-8 people and luggage.
GrammieK Posted September 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2009 When we sailed out of Dover a few years ago, we used Oceania's transfer. It was a loooong ride! Kathie

Aruba Posted September 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2009 We took a train from London's Charing Cross Station direct to Dover Priory. From there it's a short cab ride to the cruise ship terminal. (It's too far to walk with baggage.) Trains ran frequently and were not expensive. If I remember correctly, the trip took about an hour and a half. See www.britrail.com.
Mura Posted September 21, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2009 The national express bus service is also good -- and cheap -- but it does take longer. About 4 hours as I recall. We used the bus when we did our last Renaissance Cruise in May 2001 and it was fine, but if you aren't ready to schlep your luggage a little way you will want to spend more on a car. (Besides the bus, you can also take the train. Both go from the airport to Victoria Station where you change for a bus/train to Dover.) In June 2006 (returning from the Iceland cruise) we were four couples and found a reasonably priced car service that met as at the dock. Most recently we rented a car and drove to Dover because we spent a few days there before our cruise.
