Has anyone ever hit a jackpot on slots on the ships?

My Mom won $1257.00 on a penny slot on the Crown Princess. I was so happy for her...she was just playing for some fun with all us die hard casino nuts, and she comes out the biggest winner. So good for her !!!:D

Grand Princess $5.00 Black & White - if still there pays out Big!! probably gone by now.

 

Anyway it may be worth your while. I played with 20's - when played with 100's it seemed to since it had more time to play with you and not pay out as much!

Do not forget to ask at Gage about hot machines - if asked right they give hints - a little pleading helps - otherwise for get it - they tell you there're all hot!!

 

I know it sounds strange asking the gatekeeper for the exit key but if done right with right amount of tip - sure helps sometimes - especially if they been up on long shift!!

Also, do not forget to ask your cabin attendant - what goes around comes around in money matters if approached the right way. Do not be serious but joking ask them if they have heard/know/etc - it can pay off big if done correctly

My experience is that Carnival casinos have better payouts then Vegas. I only play slots. I’ve made serious bank on each cruise. I budget to blow $100 to $200 a day. I usually hit $700 to $1000 at the beginning of the cruise and play with their money the remainder of the week and know when to walk away up!!! If you break even that’s ok too, hopefully you had FUN!

Most have updated to the no coins; everything goes on your key card. when you are ready to cash out and get your money go to cashier and they give you cash.

i was on rcl in jan,won 565.00 and they paid me cash right there at machine,on other gent took a check he won 20,000.00 on a progressive machine.

Won $900 on Celebrity Century the first night out. I got a 7 x3 x3. They have old machines that spit coins but the attendant paid me the $900. Also hit $900 in December on Eclipse...sweet. It was early in the morning and no one around to see my win.

Back in 99 , We went on our 1st cruise on the Grand princess..

The ship was only 2 months old if I recollect ..

The 1st day I had a few too many rums and I was a bit hung over the next morning..

I got up and was just getting used to the decks on this large ship and stumbed upon the casino.. LOL they just opened it and I was the 1st one in .. the place was empty and I stuck $20 in the wild cherry $1 progressive.. After 2 spins I hit the jackpot .. It was $4100..

 

I sat at the chair and waited and waited and waited.. Anyways about 15 minutes later someone finally comes over and acknowleges the win ..

I am all excited as no one knew I won , we went with another couple.. The songs and whistles still playing and people are sticking there heads in a congratulating me.. the machine was quite close to the exit..

 

 

When low and behold my wife sticks her head in and jumps up and down..

 

So I really didn't win anything as she went on a shopping binge the rest of the week..

They gave her 41 $100 bills and no paperwork to fill out...

 

And yes we are still married ( 18yrs )..

How much tax did you have to pay on these winnings? :D

 

If you win over $1100 you will be given a tax form which you must report on your yearly taxes. You can claim losses up to your winnings but you need to have proof to show in case you are audited. Keep your losing lottery tickets as they can be used also. Casinos track your play and wins/losses if you use their players card. Table games it's best to cash out before hitting the $1100 mark.

On Nov. 1, 2009, the first night of our 14-day cruise, I hit $8,000 playing KENO, winning on my usual 6-spot of numbers. I hit 5 out of 6 and then upped my bet to $5/spin to win that $8k. While sitting at the bar some nights later, I hit 7 out of 8 for $1,650 and did that again that same night!

 

Since each jackpot was over $1,200, they issued me tax forms. I never had to pay any taxes on it because I claimed the $11300 gambling winnings and claimed $11300 in losses which equals $0 taxes to be paid. :)

The Tax form is called a W2G........certain gambling winnings.

If you claim a loss of the same amount as your winnings you need to be able to prove it.........trust me on this:(

And should you "forget" to claim those winnings(or one of your winnings if you have more then 1 W2G) they will catch up to you and get their taxes..........again, trust me on this:eek:

The very first night I put in $1.00 on a quarter machine and on the very first pull, won $1,000. My husband went on to win the ship's slot tournament and won a trophy, shirt and about $500.00.. Hit the Grand Princess for $1750 on .25 machine near the cage. Then later

that same night hit the 1.00 Wheel machine for 1k. NICE!!! Always play 3 card and Let-it-Ride bonus. One night hit 2 straight flushes and 3 of a kind on the same table(paid for the cruise) I think I saw them throw that dealer overboard later that night. just off the Enchantment two weeks ago and won $500 on a Five Times quarter machine. Played the $1 Wheel of Fortune daily and won nothing, but, as usual, saw several other people hit spins for $1000 toward the end of the cruise. Also heard of someone winning $3000 on a Wheel of Fortune machine. Did MUCH better on 3 card poker!

Hiya all, am so looking forward to trying the slots ( or pokies as we call them in New Zealand) on our first cruise in September but have a couple of queries.

 

Here in NZ we do not pay taxes on winnings of this type so would the taxes (American) apply to us?

 

Also if you buy casino coins prior to cruising (as you can with Holland America) are they for the slot machines or for the tables. As you can tell I am not used to your casinos.

I've only been in the blackjack tournament. Cost $20 to enter. You then have to qualify or get your name on the board. The highest 7 players go into the finals. everything is explained by the dealer. all our given the same amount of chips and you play 7 hands the player with the most chips gets $500. I did not win but came in 2nd Each of the 7 finalist got a tshirt.

I can't answer your tax question for sure - although I don't see why you'd have to pay taxes on winnings since your country of residence doesn't require it. If the ship did (for some reason) take out the taxes, there must be a way for you to get the money back.

 

On NCL (and I think on most other lines) Table games are played with chips that you buy with cash at the table, then cash out at the cashier cage when you leave.

 

Slot machines are played with cash to begin with. The machines pay out on a printed ticket, which you can either insert in another machine, keep to play another day on the cruise, or cash out at the cage, which ever you'd prefer.

 

NCL has no system of buying "Casino Coins" in advance that I'm aware of. There is at least one website that will sell you casino tickets in advance at a discount. They have these tickets for several different cruise lines, but I've never used them. A search of this forum should find that information.
