Venice train to ship

We are arriving by train in Venice. We can either get off at Mestre and take a taxi to the ship or take the train to S. Lucia and walk to the P. Roma and get a taxi.

Has anyone taken the new bridge from the S. Lucia to the P. Roma and is it worth it.

We will each have one 24" rolling suitcase and a carry on.

Any suggestions or recommendations.

Cost is not a great factor but we do not want to waste money.

Thanks

The new bridge makes it quick and easy to get to P. Roma. Yes, there are stairs (maybe 4" high) so it should be easy with rolling luggage (say several people doing it).

GSPLover:

Any suggested route to the bridge as we exit the train station.

I think I read somewhere that as we leave the tracks we should go right, past the toilets to a side entrance.

Then there is a route to the bridge.

Very little info on the italian web sites.

thanks

You can see the bridge and its relationship to the station by making a google map of "fondamenta santa chiara, 30135 venice, italy". In the satellite view you can clearly see the bridge.

If cost isn't a big factor, I think I'd just get in the taxi at Mestre and avoid the schlep across the bridge.

I would go out the front entrance (you will encouter some steps - just turn luggage around and roll in slowly over the steps). Turn right and walk along the canal. You cannot miss the bridge.
