guyver Posted October 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2009 Hi Folks, We really enjoy having some champagne on our balcony when leaving ports and am seriously considering ordering some through NCL. I have had the Veuve Clicquot Brut a few times and although I like it, I think it is over-hyped. Has any of you had the Taittinger Brut La Francaise or the Moet & Chandon Imperial champagne before? Is one better than the other? How would they rate against Veuve Clicquot? I live in a small community here in Ontario and can not find either of these locally to give them a try. I will put my trust in you guys. Also, their sparkling wines are Zardetta Prosecco Brut, Segura Viudas Brut, and Mumm Napa Blanc de Noirs. Are any of these a standout? Any and all replies will be welcomed. Guy

2Cruise4Ever Posted October 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2009 We absolutely LOVE Veuve Cliquot. But, sometimes we like to try others. The Moet is comparable, I think. White Star is tops in our book!

Guy You'll pay the $15 corkage fee if you bring it on with you. Truly the Veuve is pretty close to White Star (in our opinion). And, White Star is made by Moet. We've tried the Moet on the list... very good.
Cubechick Posted October 23, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2009 We also like the Moet that NCL carries (and almost always order a bottle). We also tried the Zardetta Prosecco Brut for the first time on our last cruise and really enjoyed it (especially given the price!).

scchasgal Posted October 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2009 Thanks Cubechick. I have read good reviews on the Zardetta on other threads as well. I will likely give it a try too. Guy See if you can find an NCL wine list with the prices. It may be cheaper to buy it in Miami and pay the $15.00 corkage fee. I am sure a store in Miami will be cheaper than the LCBO. martinchem Posted October 23, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 23, 2009 The Moet gets my ok too, not that I'm great at picking a wine though, I'm pretty easy.

Any and all replies will be welcomed. Guy I have to admit that the Veuve is my favorite! And although I managed to order 3-4 bottles, I also went with some of the cheaper ones as I think it runs about $95 a bottle onboard? And something like $43 at home....But the Moet is great as well and if memory serves me you can get about two bottles of Moet for the price of one Veuve. So if the Veuve doesn't move you like it does me (l love the dryer the better and the BITE of Veuve!) then go with the Moet. And for those days when you REALLY want to cut back, the Segura Brut Proseco is good too! We ordered this in Cagneys a lot as it is offered with the "freebie" meals that we got from both the casino and for having the suite. The Mumm blanc de noir is sweet IMHO and I don't like sweet so that one was off my list. Ah.....I am jealous! As although it has only been 13 days since got off of the ship, it seems like forever! Have a great time and I will continue drinking my Veuve at home but toasting you guys Bon Voyage! Ah.....

Tell me more abt the champagne!;) ok....guess it is MY turn for a little "knife" action.....we were on the Star 10/3 Mexican Riviera in the Garden Villa! so I REALLY cannot complain about the fact that now it is YOUR turn to have a great time! We ditched the 6 bottles of liquor that were free for the suite in exchange for champagne.......and all they would do were 4 bottles of Moet - but that was fine! So I managed to drink those in the suite and still order 6 or more bottles at dinner......in addition to the "freebies" that came along with the villa perks and the casino freebie......... Where are you guys going? Or have I had too much champagne and not noticed that this info has already been posted? haha! You seem truly cool and again, I wish you the best cruise ever....... AFT_LOVER Posted October 24, 2009 #20 Share Posted October 24, 2009 The winner is ICE WINE! mttwinmom Posted October 24, 2009 #22 Share Posted October 24, 2009 I called ncl last week to see if the cork fee for champagne was the same as wine, was told you couldn't bring champagne on board. Only wine. Has anyone had luck bringing it on, or is this misinformation

As in like bourbon? vodka? gin? tequila? seriously? If so you may have just saved my life!!!:) Yes, the Garden Villa (Cat A1) gets 6 litre bottles of liquor, the A2 and AA Owner's Suites get 3 bottles. From that category down (including Courtyard Villas) none is included - although there have been some postings about the AB on the Sun only stating that liquor was received - and still haven't figured that one out.
