loves2cruise07 Posted November 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2009 We are sailing from San Juan next summer, and we will fly in the day before. Does anyone have any suggestions on a hotel? I prefer it to be close to both the airport and the cruise terminal. Thanks for any help!

I prefer it to be close to both the airport and the cruise terminal. Thanks for any help! You could have one or the other but really not both. Would you rather be close to the airport or the cruise terminal??
loves2cruise07 Posted November 2, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted November 2, 2009 I'm not really sure where they each are in relationship to each other. How far is the terminal from the airport?

weliketocruise86 Posted November 2, 2009 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2009 We stayed at the Best Western which is in the airport. Took a taxi to the cruise terminal.:)
whyrlygig Posted November 2, 2009 #9 Share Posted November 2, 2009 We loved the Sheraton in Old San Juan. Great location and fun to wake up to see ships in the harbor.
waterbugohio Posted November 2, 2009 #10 Share Posted November 2, 2009 study the maps that are posted. Then decide what you want to do the day you are there and how much time you have. last year we stayed closer to the airport and was on the beach, just lounged around the day/night before the cruise. However, this year we want to do nightlife in Old San Juan the night before so we are staying at the Sheraton. Either way you will have to taxi to the pier for the ship. Just decide where you want to be the night before to cut down on taxi price/time.
cruiseguy1016 Posted November 2, 2009 #11 Share Posted November 2, 2009 This is an aerial of San Juan. But it does not show the airport that the OP will be using. The Isla Grande airport is a small airport, it is not used for commercial flights. The Luis Munoz Marin International Airport where commercial flights land is further to the east. It is about a 20 minute ride from the airport to the cruise terminal. We stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan last March and loved it. It's a very nice hotel that is walking distance from many nice restaurants and Old San Juan.

stones902 Posted November 2, 2009 #16 Share Posted November 2, 2009 I would recommend The Water Club if you are a younger couple and enjoy a bit of clubbing. Right on the beach in Isle Verde. Very similar to hotels on South Beach.
kyriecat Posted November 2, 2009 #17 Share Posted November 2, 2009 Sailing Serenade 02/27/10 and got Sheraton Old San Juan for 90.00 on priceline. Nice Hotel close to Pan american Pier.Hopefully you didn't book Sheraton OSJ because of it's proximity to the pier. It's right across the road from the Old San Juan pier NOT Pan American. Pan American pier is on the other side of the inlet from OSJ pier. You will have a 20+ minute taxi ride, depending on traffic around the OSJ and Pan American piers. frenchcanrican Posted November 2, 2009 #18 Share Posted November 2, 2009 I am from Puerto Rico. Water Club is awsome if you like the modern style very boutique style, Intercontinental is right on Isla Verde beach. Typical tourist hotel. If you want to taste Puerto Rico more then El Convento is beautiful it is a converted convent with a stunning courtyard and it is steps from the main highlight in Old San Juan the Moro, the oldest fort in the US territories. Embassy suites is also nice. The Radisson and Marriot are your typical tourist hotels with casinos ect.
JackAZ Posted November 2, 2009 #19 Share Posted November 2, 2009 If its only overnight the Best Western on the airport is handy and one of the most inexpensive.I think its only a short cab ride to the pier.We have stayed there and are going to again in May

toonjie Posted November 2, 2009 #22 Share Posted November 2, 2009 The Marriott Stellaris or Intercontinental for resorts on the beach, Water Club for boutique on the beach, El Convento for Old San Juan, no beach, but really nice!!!

dwiller Posted November 2, 2009 #24 Share Posted November 2, 2009 We are sailing on January 3 on Adventure of the Seas. We are flying into SJU on January 2 and used Priceline to book a room for that one night. We got the Caribe Hilton (http://www.hiltoncaribbean.com/index.php?destination=sanjuan) but I've never stayed there so I don't know much about it. It will be my first time traveling to PR. Jan_In_Maine Posted November 2, 2009 #25 Share Posted November 2, 2009 El Convento in OSJ is wonderful ... I would prefer to have two days there to really get the feeling for both the hotel and OSJ. Jan
