Several questions about the one day cruise to nowhere from NY on 1/23/10:

What time will we be allowed to board the ship?

Given the limited time on board, how do dinner assignments/reservations work?

What is the range of shows/activities for the one night on board?

Do people bother going to sleep? If not, what is available between 2 A.M. and 6 A.M.?

Thanks for any help.

I'll try to answer.

Several questions about the one day cruise to nowhere from NY on 1/23/10:

What time will we be allowed to board the ship?

The boarding is generally the same as regular cruises. If the ship gets in around 7-8, they could start boarding around noon.

Given the limited time on board, how do dinner assignments/reservations work?

You can usually make reservations as soon as you board, they may have a table set up for that purpose in the lobby. If not, call reservations on the phone or go to the dining room of your choice and see if there is anyone there to take your reservation. Of course, you don't need reservations for the main dining rooms, just the specialties.

What is the range of shows/activities for the one night on board?

Usually everything is going that night, a show in the theatre, casino, bars and night clubs, musicians, etc.

Do people bother going to sleep? If not, what is available between 2 A.M. and 6 A.M.?

Some do, some don't, but for the very wee hours you can use the casino or catch a bite at Blue Lagoon.

Thanks for any help.

Have fun!

Several questions about the one day cruise to nowhere from NY on 1/23/10:

What time will we be allowed to board the ship? Around noon, give or take, unless there is a delay getting people off the ship.

Given the limited time on board, how do dinner assignments/reservations work? Same as usual. Show up in the MDR or buffet when you want to eat. Reserve the specialty restaurants as soon as possible after you board, they will fill up fast. Most of the restaurants will be open about an hour or so later than usual. There probably will not be any room service for the 1 night CTN. The buffet and a MDR should be open for breakfast. I'm guessing Cagney's is open for boarding lunch and breakfast for suite guests.

What is the range of shows/activities for the one night on board? One or two shows, bars and night clubs. Spa services will be available, but spa pools/thermal suite probably will not be available.

Do people bother going to sleep? If not, what is available between 2 A.M. and 6 A.M.? Most do get at least a couple hours, although many stay up late. After midnight it's pretty much the night clubs, bars, casino, and most likely a small buffet of appetizers in the buffet.

Thanks for any help.

The one nighter is more like a party/gambling cruise. The ship is very active and busy late into the night. Everyone is trying to do as much as they can in a few hours. It's still a fun thing to do, we did one a couple years ago and may do the Jan 2 CTN.

If you like to gamble look for high table minimums and crowds. If smoke doesn't bother you, it can be fun with so much energy in the room.

Like others have said, specialty restaurants fill up quickly and so did appointments in the spa.

Still have the sailaway, which is just like other cruises. My heart beats fast and I am happy!

They do have a show like on regular cruises and there are other venues with entertainers. Some people don't sleep at all. The casino may close around 3am and after that, I have no idea. I suppose you could just find a place to sit and chat or catch a fews hours sleep. I am usually good until about 1:00AM. Not as young as I used to be:o
