They will TRY to find your documents and leave them with a shore side agent... there is no guarantee...

:)

Thats why we prefer to always have our passports with us in any foreign country. The photo ID and s&s card may be fine for carnival but it may not be fine with airlines if we have to fly back for any reason.

This is extracted from Carnival's web site:

Sushi Bar

Ships: All

The Sushi Bar located on the Promenade Desk is open nightly prior to the dinner hours. Sake is available at a nominal cost.

Sushi has been avaiable on every Carnival ship that I have sailed on so I suspect that it will be on the Liberty, as well. In fact, a glance at the Public Rooms on the Liberty shows that the Sushi bar, The Origami, is located mid-ships on the Promenade Deck!

Enjoy!

I've had the opportunity to chat with a few folks who have found themselves in the unhappy situation of being stuck at the pier in a port of call.

A call was placed to the ship to verify nationality and that was all that was required. The information was documented by the local authorities and the errant traveler was allowed to proceed.

In the case I'm familiar with they had to catch a flight to the next port to meet the ship in the morning... expensive to be sure but there weren't a lot of diplomatic hurdles to cross.

Would it have been easier with documentation in hand? Certainly but easier still is not missing the ship...

;)

In the case of having to fly home for a family emergency, etc the US grants permission to travel via air quite quickly as long as the nationality of the traveler can be ascertained.

I'm not debating the merits or lack thereof of a passport... never have. I've had a passport for 40 years. I simply prefer to not carry it on shore with me.

Interesting info on the verification Mach. I always wondered what happened to those drunken cruisers:D

Can you let Carnival know it needs to update the FAQ regarding sushi?

This is in the current FAQ's...

Hey Mach...may have already been asked, but that wont be the first time. Any idea when the 2011 schedule past April for Charelston will be announced? Thanks

It's normally available in April unless they have something that they're proud of to roll out...

Yo, Host Mach, I have been trying to book shore excursions on Half Moon Cay for like a month now. We cruise in 53 days. Everytime I call the cust rep says that there are technical problems with the web site and thats why its only showing 3 excursions available and the rest of them will upload and be available too. But its been a month! Others on my roll call have had the same problem. Liberty 5/1/2010. Any advise? Thanks Big Dog.

I'll be glad to send this concern along... Don't know what's up with the website but as it's revenue I'm sure they'll get on it!!

Hi Mach...this might be a new one for you.

DH and I just got off the Valor on Sunday. While onboard, we purchased five bottles of liquor three of which were delivered the last night. When we received them, we just opened the boxes to check quickly to see if they were the right items. They were correct, so we closed the boxes back up and finished our packing things. Yesterday, after unpacking all our items at home, we came across an interesting problem. Two of the liquors we purchased were Sheridan's but one was sealed and one was not. One of the bottles had a gold foil seal that ran from the cap down a little ways to the side of the bottle and the other had nothing. After looking more closely, the unsealed bottle also has about a good inch less of liquor as well. We didn't notice it at first because you can only see it from the side at the top. (It was just enough that the missing liquor couldn't be noticed due to the labels on the neck of the bottle.)

Any ideas on who to contact?

Wow... that would really suck!!

Let me see if I can find out who would be best to contact. I suspect they'll refer you to Guest Relations...

Mach....

Someone just posted verbiage that the cruise guarantee is good for sailings through 12/31/10.

Do find out if this program is being abandoned after such date.

Are you referring to the price guarantee or the vacation satisfaction guarantee?

If it's the price guarantee we saw the same thing a few years ago. It was followed by a press release from Carnival indicating that the offer was extended to such and such a date...

Hi Mach,

I really enjoy reading your reviews and your good advice to many cruisers.

1. Cruising on 21Mar, Splendor. I have organized a Meet and Greet on the board. Just a simple M&E--3pm--starboard side--between Lido pool area and bar. Have lots of great folks from Cruise Critic and included the info on Carnival Connections. Well over 100 people plus lots of kids. I know that probably only 1/2 will stop by. Is there a way to have Carnival set aside some tables or an area there? Can I request that Goose, his assistants, or an officer make an appearance? If so how? I am thinking of doing a poster to put in this area. Any other ideas? Have suggested everyone wear Mardi Gras beads as well. I attended one similiar to this that someone had organized for my cruise last year.

2. I only play the slots, so I think I can put charges on my ship card without a surcharge. But my aunt and uncle play tables. So I think they should bring cash to avoid any surcharges. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance--can't wait. Will be my 11th Carnival, 26th cruise.

Ronne

Hi, Ronne!

Sounds like y'all are gonna have a great time. I don't think that they will set aside tables and chairs on the Lido as that space is pretty precious. Is your M&M on the day of embarkation?

I don't spend a lot of time in the casino but you're right about the slots... not so sure about the tables, though... Perhaps someone can help us there.

Hi back,

Sorry--it is on the day we embark. I chose that area for all the kids--might want to take a swim--good place for them to meet some others their own ages right at the beginning of the cruise. I know it will be crowded there, but figure we could regroup and/or make arrangements to meet again if people are interested.

Thx

Ronne

Hi Mach, glad to see you had another great cruise!

I asked back in February about the webcam on the Carnival Liberty and it still isn't updated. Have you heard anything?

Thanks so much.

Yeah, Sheli... I posted about that. They looked at it and verified that it was functional. Is it down again??
