detroitcruiser Posted December 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2009 this may very well be the first positive thread about the new menus. Good for you for asking about positive information rather than trying to confirm that the new menus are sub par.

spearmint Posted December 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2009 I have been on Celebrity with the old menus . Now that the menus have changed I'm wondering what people really enjoyed from the new menus.I'm sailing on the Summit in three weeks. Thanks I have to tell you that the things that we enjoyed from the new menus are the holdovers from the old menu....and they were mostly in the appetizer section.... such potato gratin with montrachet cheese, spinach wrapped in phylo pasty on emmenthal cheese sauce. Some of the soups were good, but I cannot recall anything specific. The other best things on the menu were on the everyday side....salmon, french onion soup and creme brulee. We took a back to back for 28 days, and there was not one main dish that we looked forward to repeating, nor, now that I think of it, a dessert (I had creme brulee for probably 20 nights). Even my wife who eats/tries almost everything (not fussy like me) noted how poor the food was. I have never heard her complain on a cruise before. That tells me something, believe me. sj cruiser Posted December 13, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2009 Just off the Infinity (12/5/09) and really enjoyed the new menu. From the anytime menu, the French onion soup was very good as were the escargots. The Lobster Bisque was on the salty side though. bububr Posted December 13, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 13, 2009 Everything was extremely salty....and the fish dishes were overcooked. I much prefereed the old menu...the new one is a disaster in my opinion. The worse was having to send back the lobster concoction while we were at the Captains table...Totally inedible, salty, rubbery, just plain nasty. At least with the lobster tails you knew what you were getting. However the 'Grandma's pork chop was really tasty...kinda like the old fashioned shake and bake!! I actually would reccomend it as one of the best choices. Dave:eek:
Going Coastal Posted December 14, 2009 #12 Share Posted December 14, 2009 In addition to the highlighted items above, the grandmother style pork chops were wonderful and having escargots every night was a treat.

ellbon Posted December 14, 2009 #15 Share Posted December 14, 2009 i picked out several things to eat next month. the apps look great. in general positive or not soups can be salty because Americans do not cook with lots of salt so we taste it more. have never notice it in anything but soups. Bill Recently off Millennium, we have to agree that the left side of the menu had the better food choices or at least it did for us. New menu left a lot to be desired....Most of it was just OK and not up to the quality that we have previously enjoyed on Celebrity.

bikerunner Posted December 14, 2009 #19 Share Posted December 14, 2009 I just got off the Mecury on a 12 day cruise. The food was outstanding. Why worry about limiting what you order. You can try as much as you want. I was pretty much ordering 2 apps 2 soups/salad and 2 dinners. Just to try. Most things were outstanding. I also had a special order ...which they happily do...for deserts. Coconut ice cream and bread pudding. . Food is subjective. I think there was only 2 things I didnt like all cruise. But that was my taste other people liked them. The food is seems also to be correct serving size. So if you are hungry order extra.
ccqueenanne Posted December 14, 2009 #20 Share Posted December 14, 2009 Thank you for posting these.Does anyone know if a seven night cruise uses days one through seven's menus? On my seven night cruise, the menu on our formal night was "Day 12" above. Other than that, most of the early menus looked familiar to me. I'll also agree that the porkchop was good (and quite generous) - probably my favorite entree. The everyday creme brulee was my favorite dessert.
