shiphappy Posted December 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2009 Have a choice of either cabin and wonder what your thoughts are pro's and con's, if any. thank you!
BettyCruiser Posted December 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2009 I like aft facing balconies, so I would chose aft, 6136 also shows a connecting door, I don't like connecting doors if I don't know those in the other room. Beth
bob278 Posted December 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2009 For most people, the real benefit of being on the aft is the view and the balcony. On the M-class, a CC balcony is probably 8 feet wide (or however wide the cabin is) and about 20 feet deep. The cover is such that by placing your chairs right, you have a choice of shade or sun in almost every circumstance (not to mention shelter from wind and rain). The CC cabins on the Penthouse deck in the aft section are (by many accounts on CC, I've never been in one of them) may be a few inches wider (which can add up to a noticeable, but not major increase in overall space) and the balconies are teak like the suites. The balconies may be slightly larger than a standard CC balcony, but not significantly. Given that the appeal (to us) is the view and balcony for our use and for entertaining (we have had as many as 20 people on our balcony without being scrunched up), the aft wins, hands down. If a few (maybe as much as 5-10) square feet of space in the cabin is more important to you, then I would take 6136. Heck, we would not take a Sky Suite on the side at the same price over an aft CC on those ships.
jackdiamond Posted December 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2009 We have often done both; and, we are pleased with both. We have 6144 on the Constellation next December; and, it is a wee bit larger, in cabin and balcony, than 6136. By the way, the balcony on 6136 is much larger than the average CC balcony cabin. On our last one we had two loungers, two regular chairs and a large table. You will not go wrong with either.
Dylandude Posted December 22, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2009 Have a choice of either cabin and wonder what your thoughts are pro's and con's, if any. thank you! One big plus on 6144, and the other CC staterooms in amongst the suites is, you get the best Stateroom attendants on the ship. The 4 CC staterooms amongst the suites are also very private and quiet. MISSYLOU Posted December 23, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 23, 2009 In choosing aft cabins you should consider the climate you will be sailing in. If you are in the Caribbean the aft cabins may not have enough breeze to keep the covered balcony part cool. If you are cruising Northern Europe or Alaska you are sheltered from the elements better in an aft cabin. Either way you can't beat the view. warmwinds Posted December 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted December 23, 2009 We've been in afts on Caribbean itineraries...when the ship is in motion, the fact that the dividers are a few inches off the ground makes for a very nice circulation of air. When you are in port, and facing the sun, they can be very warm. But most of the time they are great.
alwaysoverpack Posted December 23, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 23, 2009 We were in the aft CC stateroom (called a family stateroom) on Constellation just above the Penthouse suite. IT WAS AWESOME!! As described the stateroom is a little larger than typical CC veranda staterooms and the balcony is amazingin size! However, we actually booked 3 weeks prior to sail (as opposed to 1.5 yrs). That is when the unsold family staterooms are released and assigned to the folks who booked Guaranteed category rather than specific assignment (which is how we booked). It was a stroke of luck that still keeps us talking! One of our favorite cruises.
Dabu17 Posted December 30, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 30, 2009 We just switched from an AFT CC to one of the FV corners - 7202. I saw on the website that a couple of them were open and because it's a short time from sailing, Celebrity released them for couples - rather than families. Hooray!h
Muushka Posted December 30, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 30, 2009 We had 6136 on Millie and absolutely loved that cabin. Well, really loved that nice, deep balcony. We had a FV aft on the Century and were not that crazy about the aft location. I know, different ship, but the view is still the same. I know most rave about aft, but we prefer the cabins being on the side. So, in conclusion, I would take that 6136 again in a heart beat!
Rare coldinerie Posted December 31, 2009 #12 Share Posted December 31, 2009 DABU17 we too have booked the aft 7202 and cant wait. were in 9197 last year and LOVED it. The room is huge and the balcony, well....... even bigger. You are the envy of the entire ship when they look down at you from Deck 10. And the price, well....... little do the folks know its a cheap date. Enjoy our 7202. I know we will.
Dabu17 Posted December 31, 2009 #13 Share Posted December 31, 2009 Thank you. Can't believe we're actually getting a $100 refund! This will be the first time we're not sailing CC. We originally had the 8172 AFT which is CC, but gave it up for the corner. Think we made a really great decision. When are you sailing?
