Phamer55 Posted December 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2009 How do the taxis work in Samana? Are they metered or fixed priced? Do you pay by the taxi or the person? Anyone know what the cost would be take a taxi from the port to La Playita beach?
SteveLT Posted February 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2012 Taxis in Samana do not use meters. They have fix prices depending on where you are going, but are open to "deals" and "offers" and do not charge by the person but rather for the destination. There is a nice guy in Samana Town called " Zoilo Quezada " ( Tel : 809 256-3058 ) who is a Professional Taxi Driver with a nice modern minivan, he speaks really good English and Italian and can be totally trusted since he also works for the Ministry of Tourism of Dominican Republic. This guy is very reliable and courteous to go exploring the Samana Peninsula, National Airport Transfers or go to the Beach of your choice... Some of those great beaches we have : 1) La Playita 2) Playa El Valle 3) Playa Rincon 4) Playa Anadel ( Cayenas del Mar Beach Club ) Paying in both US Dollars or RD Pesos should be no problem at all with him. You can Google him up or check him out on the Tourism Website of GO SAMANA on the section of General Informations. http://gosamana-dominicanrepublic.com Steve Tour Guide
SteveLT Posted June 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2013 There is also another Taxi company with a very good reputation in Samana called OPTIMA TAXI. They have a Website where they show all prices and rates of Taxi Services and Sightseeing Tours in Samana, including La Playita Beach.
