apples1996 Posted December 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2009 We are going with a group of 14 cabins on the Carnival Fantasy out of Mobile on April 10th. We currently have an inside room with a porthole window. We were thinking about paying to move to a suite. Why? The room we are currently in only holds two people and we want to add our 11 year old daughter. Why? This will be my 6th cruise and I have never had a suite before. Why? This will be my DH's 3rd cruise (previously we had a balcony on the NOS and and inside on the Disney Wonder) and he raved about having a balcony on the NOS and the only balconies on the Fantasy are the suite rooms. Problem---the affordable ones are listed as having obstructed views. Has anyone been on this ship in one of those suites that could give me some insight? I would love to hear an EXPERIENCED person's view on this. I realize there would be more square footage in the room and a balcony, but is there anyting else we would be gaining? Thanks in advance for your wonderful help. Sharon Kentucky
Rare mizLORInj Posted December 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2009 which suite are you talking about? verandah deck or upper deck? Verandah deck suites are more like a regular balcony cabin, upper deck suites are almost double-wide cabins.
cb at sea Posted December 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Aside from the added space and priority boarding, you don't really get any other "perks"---that said, you don't need to defend your choice of cabin! Suites are sweet! Lots of space!
apples1996 Posted December 30, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks for your input. I think I am leaning toward just going with a regular oceanview and saving the suite for a ship and cruise where it will be more of a whoa factor. I say this now but I am sure I will constantly be watching suite prices for that moment when I just can't resist. This will be my 6th cruise and I have had all types of other cabins but a suite so I am really wanting to experience the "suite" life. Thanks, Sharon
LaWeezy Posted January 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2010 The ones that say "Obstructed view", are usually the ones where the life boats are hanging. Therefore when you look out you see the lifeboat. We booked a Gaurantee Balcony and had a fantastic balcony, paid less, and were in the middle of the ship. It was great! We couldn't have picked a better one ourselves and paid more.
