Jo and Rob Posted January 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2010 We have tried contacting Princess who have not responded and the hotel have explained that it is organised by Princess not themselves so please somebody can you tell me the time of the transfer? We are really keen to do the Chef's table and are worried the transfer will get us there too late and all the places will be gone :( If we were staying at Fort Lauderdale we would probably get a taxi but I imagine it would probably be a bit pricey from Miami! cacy6893076 Posted January 31, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2010 I have not heard of a princess transfer from this hotel, are you sure that it departs directly from the hotel? I would pick up the phone and call princess, rather than 'contacting ' them via email/fax , if that's what you meant. Speak with a live person. cacy6893076 Posted January 31, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2010 sorry, did you book thru the uk? you may have to call the uk office in this case as this is an international booking and transfers in that case may be different than us bookings. Or call your travel agent/representative. Not to worry too much about the chef's table as the transfers to the pier in fort lauderdale are generally scheduled to arrive at 11:00 am or later due to congestion at the pier from disembarking passengers. Unless arriving independently most people will arrive after 11:00 am and I understand that princess is/has recently been advising passengers not to arrive earlier than 11:00 in any case. Which firm do you use and do you get the hotel to book it for you? Are taxi charges per person or the journey? If so perhaps we could share the cost with someone else? Here is a link: http://www.supershuttle.com/en/Miami.aspx?Location=Miami&Type=Location You can email them and see if you can setup a specific time, etc... cantwaitfornextcruise Posted January 31, 2010 #15 Share Posted January 31, 2010 I’m not sure if you are new to Princess or not, so if I am telling you stuff you already know sorry.:o You will see a Princess rep at Heathrow, who will find you at check in just to say hello and make sure you are OK. Sometimes they aare lateso don’t worry if you don’t see her (always a her) At Miami you’ll travel by bus to the hotel, there will be a rep at the airport to escort you, at the hotel after check in your luggage will be delivered, to your room make sure you have low value $, you’ll need to tip the coach driver and bell boy as a rule we tip $2 a bag .The hotel restaurant is OK but we us a restaurant next to Mcy’d you’ll see it across the road, breakfast in the restaurant is OK but again we go outside the hotel, Dunnkin Donuts is across the road and some others.. There are loads of taxis outside the hotel just ask one of them, but you MUST tell the Princess rep you are travelling to the ship independently, they will go blaa blaa blaa, but we just say we have sailed Princess 9 times now and we are OK, then off you go. At the port have your passport handy as the Port security will check it, at the pier, TIP the luggage handlers, although the signs say they are salaried and tipping is not required tip and your luggage will be fine, at checkin decide if you want your shipboad account converted or no this is contentious and personal, we do as we have always had a good rate of exchange. Hope this helps, it’s a shame we are on different cruises, we could have shared a cab

Shogun Posted January 31, 2010 #17 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Hi There, Do not want to worry you but keep an eye on your bags, Princess ask you to put your bags out side your room, they then collect and place them out side the hotel ready to load onto the buses, this was the last time we saw my bags, others have lost bags at this hotel, the hotel itself is nice, Princess used this hotel for our return trip we had many hours to kill, before our flight home so they took us on tour all day took us twice to the hotel for tea and lunch as well to a local mall. I would be happy to stay at the hotel again but would not let my bags out of my sight. yours Shogun

You are more thank welcome, as this is your first time, may I be so bold as to say do ship tours, in St Kitts a few years ago, we were 3 hours late back from the trip, the ship waited next port we left 2 people, on most cruises at least 2 people miss the ship,we always think it may cost more but a flight to the next island is greater. Last year we left a family with a small child behind. If you are anytime dining, consider traditional, on the last night they have baked alaska parade, if you haven't seen it that would be a shame If I can help anymore pop onto our roll call 27th Feb andleave a message
cantwaitfornextcruise Posted January 31, 2010 #19 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Shogun is spot on, take your own bags in the morning, we check out and head to Port Everglade, but if you stay and catch the bus sit where you can see them. Nice one Shogun, I remember there is a taxi driver wearing your kilt somewhere in Florida:D
