Jo and Rob Posted January 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2010 I am curious as to why the mini-suite has the same auto tip as a suite. I can understand that the suite has a lot of extra perks which requires more service but don't see the extras for the mini-suite. Yes we do intend to pay it before anybody jumps to the wrong conclusions! We just wondered why it is set this way :)

Colo Cruiser Posted January 31, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2010 .50 cents extra really means nothing. ;)
beachpeach1 Posted January 31, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Oh, what is the autotip for mini-suite?
Pirkko Posted January 31, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Oh, what is the autotip for mini-suite? $11.00 a day verses the $10.50 for the "smaller" rooms.
Toto2Kansas Posted January 31, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2010 With the extra area to clean in a mini we always leave that auto tip in place and also tip more on top of that. 50 cents extra per day is so little when you consider the larger bathroom, and the sitting area. For full suites, although the auto tip is the same as for a mini, we tip double the extra we do in a mini, or more. ;)

jff50 Posted February 1, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Not sure that any of the responses so far give the real reason. You can't really justify it based on size/service difference--since minisuites are much closer to balconies (in size and amenities) than they are to suites. If you justified the amount based on room size/amenities, then suites should need a much higher autotip. I think that Princess (and other cruise lines) just look at the total tip pool as additional revenue/reduced salary expenses to the cruise line. They want to generate the additional dollars from as many rooms as possible, so they apply the higher tip level to minisuites--rather than just limiting it to suites.
