walleye2 Posted February 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2010 New to cruising. We have a snorkel trip booked with a private charter on St Maarten. Should I carry my passports with me or leave them on the ship? Hate to have something happen to them while ashore. Thanks for any help..
Sheffie Posted February 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2010 I have a small laminated copy of my passport that I take ashore with me. Otherwise, I keep my passport locked in my safe. You will need picture ID to get back onto the pier in St. Maarten. Your driver's license will work for that. Have a great cruise! Prepare to become addicted!! cb at sea Posted February 5, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2010 You'll be fine--no need to carry your passport. Your private guide would be out of business if he made folks late back to the ship!
walleye2 Posted February 5, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted February 5, 2010 Thank you. Will the copied passports work for the picture ID on the pier??
Sheffie Posted February 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2010 Thank you. Will the copied passports work for the picture ID on the pier?? Don't know; never tried it. I just keep it with me for my peace of mind. I think that it would help me with the conselate if I got stuck on the island. Probably wouldn't, but it makes me feel better. Also, I have it laminated because it goes into my waterwallet and sometimes things get wet in there.
