A telephone question

As posted above, near elevators and bars. If not near the bar, it may be behind the bar. Just ask. These come in very handy, especially when we cruise with others and need to get in touch to meet or make plans.

They are at all the staircases.

I don't believe you can access the DINE line from a stairway phone.

Has to be from your cabin as your name and cabin number will show for them.

I have done it from house phones. You just have to give them your room number.

I have tried and it did not work so I guess they will see when they board.

Really? I have done it on several different Princess ships and it has always worked for me. Since you cannot reserve before 8 AM and we do breakfast at about 7:30, I usually grab a phone just outside of the DR, often the phone at the DR desk and make reservations for anytime.

Do they specifically put the phones near the bar just in case you need a ride home?

I don't think so. Your sign and sail card is sort of like a "if found, please put in mailbox, delivery guaranteed" tag on your car keys. The security department kind of "drops" you off at your room.

The phone is so you can call your friends to join you drinking at the bar!;)

Really....

Maybe I dialed wrong, missed a digit??

Dunno what to tell you, but it has always worked for me and I only have 25 Princess cruises to my credit as opposed to your 40+. I am working at catching up with you though. You probably just got a reservation taker with an attitude.

Well I know on the Golden I called from the cabin after embarking and it rang and rang. I tried until after 2p and they finally answered. We left the cabin after the first few times and I tried at a stairwell phone a couple of times and I could not get through. So who knows. Hopefully I won't have to do that again.

Sorry, I thought you meant that they answered and refused to take your res because you were not calling from your room. I have often had to let it ring and ring for several times even from the room.

On another cruise I put it on speaker phone once and was on hold for over an hour and finally hung up.

I tried booking the Ultimate Balcony Dinner in 2007 on the Crown. I wanted it to be a surprise to my wife, who was always with me when I was in the room. Right after embarkation, I tried a few times from the house phones and never got through. I got through from the room while my wife napped a few hours later.

When I had to make arrangements, I called from a house phone the second or third day. I got through only once from a house phone. It is very hit or miss to get the DINE line from outside of the cabin, but it can be done.

PS- I also was on hold once for a VERY long time and just hung up.

We saw a dude so plastered on the NCL Gem over CHristmas vacation, he literally couldn't put two forward steps together! Each step he took, he took one or two to the side. His friend held him up almost like a baby learning to walk. Maybe escorts to the room aren't such a bad idea, lol!!
