WOW Phone Question

Just wanted to stress what was said earlier about not putting the phones into sleep mode or lock mode. Leave them EXACTLY they way they are delivered to you. This means that the display will be lit ALL THE TIME running the Royal Connect application.

I messed with mine trying to save battery life by putting into sleep mode and nobody could contact me. It took me a few days to figure out that was the problem. Once I did not use the sleep mode anymore, they were fine.

Bottom line, leave the phones alone just they way they are.

Ooo! Thanks for the tip!:)

We plan on bringing our walkie talkies from home to keep in touch with each other. They have worked on other ships wont they work on the Oasis?

JHA

They don't work as well on the Oasis, but I'd suggest you spend the $38-$40 and get the Royal Connect phones instead. You won't need to pack the W-T's and you won't be anywhere NEAR as noisy.

does everyone in your group have to be there at the same time?

or as they board can they get their phones & you can get configured to them?

does everyone have a phone number? or what is used to punch in another person?

anyone hear of someone having to pay the $1000 fine yet?

Hello!

If I have an iPhone already, can I get the Royal Connect app put on MY phone? Or is it only available on their equipment? We want one for my teen, and one to track my youngest.

I have no problem paying for the use of the app, but carrying my own phone would free up one for someone else who doesn't already have an iPhone.

Thanks!!

JC

You need to use THEIR equipment and software. The wait for them to configure the phones for each group is long enough, let alone if they start installing and configuring applications on other people's equipment.

You dont have to have all parties there for calling each other .To locate each other the phones have to be linked. You can call there phone # and get them. The locater has Wrist band a little ugly but works shows kids

So, do we have to have all parties who want one physically present when we go to request them? Or, if I went by myself with three seapass cards (mine, husband's, and youngest daughter's) could I pick up two phones and a bracelet? If it was possible for my husband to take the kids to the pool while I stand in the line after we get on board, that would be very helpful.

And I'm only familiar with Studio B on Freedom - on Oasis, is the entrance to studio B on level 3, or level 4?

Thanks!

Here's what I think you should do:

When you board (Royal Promenade, Level 5), go straight to Studio B on the 4th floor. All of you.

Somewhere outside Studio B (next to the Comedy Club) there will be a crew member with the forms you need to fill out for the phones. After you're done there, ask the crew member if the whole family needs to wait for the phones, which will be configured one flight down in the Conference Center, Level 3.

So if I bring my own cell, and use my texting as communication to my family and read my Compass from the stateroom, is there any other benefit to having the WOW phone?

Short of having you look up the many other threads in this forum, perhaps you should check out this video I made:

If you bring your own cell phone and text on board You might end up spending a 1000$ without breaking anything.Cell and text costs can be expensive onboard ship.Even with the best plan I would think it would cost more than 17.50 Per phone .When I said You all dont have to be together I ment if you where traveling with other couples or families those phones dont have to be linked.Your own phones and braclet have to be linking for locateing each other

Maybe if we all e-mailed Oasis about the Royal connect phones they would have

more available by the time we are going on future cruises. Or at least let us

order a head of time. I sure would like to know if I have a chance at renting one

for a week.

I have another question

( sorry if it has been answered)

there is mention of a fine if it is lost. isn't one of th efunctions of the phone is to locate someone in your group? if you lose your phone couldn't you just have someone do the locater search on you & find your phone?

sounds like a no brainer to me, unless Imissed something ( & of course the phone died)

If you break or lose the phone it's $1,000 charged on your SeaPass card.

The locator feature is not THAT precise. It gives you a general area where the person is on the ship (ie., casino, Deck 11 staterooms mid-ship port side, etc)
