divinmule Posted February 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2010 Going to HMC in April...my mom is interested in the stingrays but she is NOT a swimmer or even a Floater. She would just like to stand in the water and interact with the stingrays...is this possible on the HMC stingray excursion? How deep is the water? Thanks
cb at sea Posted February 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2010 I think most Stingray encounters are "standing"....so they can come up and be petted and fed. Have you checked with the cruiseline? This is definitely something that is booked through the ship.
piphigal Posted March 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2010 My husband and I did the stingrays at HMC...there are only 3 or 4 in there and you have to swim, they said not standing...except for once he said we could and he brought the stingray out of the water for a pic. she could see it that way. These stingrays are kept in a netted area so nothing comes in or out from the ocean. If you get a chance to go to grand cayman they have an AWESOME stingray city! It is open ocean and you can stand and they will swim all around you...tons of them..the boat takes you out to a sand bar where it is shallow.
