Chances of getting carsick: Chilkoot 7.5hr. Rail/Bus

I'm looking at my options for Skagway and figured out that the Chilkoot 7.5 hour Rail and Bus tour is probably our best option; however, my fiancee tends to get carsick on long car or van rides. Is there anyone on here that is highly sensitive to getting carsick that can give some input on this issue?

I'm not quite as concerned about the train ride since she has already taken long train rides before and they do not bother her. It's the van ride that I'm more concerned about. She does fine in large charter busses or school busses, but I don't think she does so well in smaller vans.

Thanks for any input. And if you're going to just post "we don't know her so no one can tell you how she's going to handle it," please save it for another thread. I'm looking for input from those who have been on this excursion and also suffer from carsickness.

I do get car/sea sick VERY easily. VERY weak stomach!! DH and I took the train in September of 2008 and loved it. From the train you can see the highway and from where I was it looked very curvy, just looking at it kind of made my stomach roll! LOL You will probably be safe if you book the train both going up the mountain and down. I'm doing it again this June. had no problem on the train, just a little on the ship, but not enough to ruin my day or cruise.

BTW, It was the best excursion ever, Well worth the money!

Enjoy Alaska, BEAUTIFUL:cool:

Have done that excursion with Chilcoot and with Princess. Chilcoot uses small vans that seem quite wide with dual wheels and seemed very stable. They have large windows and make lots of scenic stops. Never saw anyone with a problem. But use precautions, sea sick medicine.
