Luluwa Posted March 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2010 Why do we bring our favorite snacks onboard when there is more food and goodies to eat than we could eat in a lifetime? But - I always do! WHY?
GeneHunter Posted March 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2010 I NEVER bring snacks with me. There's more than I can eat on board!
bobbyleduck Posted March 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2010 I enjoy my Pistachios, and the nuts onboard every cruise I've been on have been stale. Happy cruising to all! Bob
alabamaprincess Posted March 1, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2010 We bring a few snacks for my 13 year old, she is kind of finnicky. They do have pringles in the gift shop but they cost more than twice what we pay for them at home. She loves the cheese pizza on lido deck and the chocolate cake from room service, but sometimes she likes to nibble while watching TV. I try to bring Pringles potato chips, chips ahoy cookies, fruit by the foot, etc. Believe it or not she is far from over weight. She is ADD/ADHD and doesn't eat much during the school day, but she loves to eat when she is on the cruise.
halos Posted March 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2010  I don't know why you bring snacks. We certainly never even consider it.
LemurCat Posted March 1, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2010 I usually bring Doritos or pretzels because they don't exactly have savory snacks handy. I don't consider a piece of pizza a snack. And while I would love to take a cheese plate back to my cabin, I'm picky about my cheese and crackers.
yogi2929 Posted March 1, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 1, 2010 Because our embarkation was delayed til almost 5 once in Long Beach. A couple decided to leave the ship between ports. We didn't eat lunch at home because we thought we would be onboard by 1.

diathoney Posted March 1, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 1, 2010 We do bring snack mix ..such as chex mix to snack on while sitting on our balcony drinking beer........Aren't we classy..lol I'm with you there! We also like Baked Lay's ruffles, pumpernickel & onion pretzels, pistachios and Jelly Belly jelly beans. The cruise lines are pretty generic with their snacks. TheDINGOateMyBaybay! Posted March 1, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 1, 2010 Heck no. They would take up valuable space I will be using for booze.
uppitycats Posted March 1, 2010 #13 Share Posted March 1, 2010 We take snacks on the air flight, since they don't feed you anymore!...and if any are leftover, they'll come with us onto the ship. But I've never deliberately packed snacks just for the cruise.
bobbyleduck Posted March 1, 2010 #14 Share Posted March 1, 2010 Don't need space for booze, so have plenty of space for my Pistachios. Happy cruising to all! Bob
golfadj Posted March 1, 2010 #15 Share Posted March 1, 2010 I am very happy with the food on the ship so see no reason to bring snacks on board.
Tiffany1203 Posted March 1, 2010 #16 Share Posted March 1, 2010 After having watched what we eat in preparation for our cruises, sometimes there are things we crave on our diets that just arent offered on the cruise ships! Take twinkies for example!! Hense the twinkie pose on our aft balcony! :D

WHY? Well although it is true that there always has been- you can never take enough precautions. Maybe, just maybe, this time out they will run out of food and if not for your snacks you might starve to death on the high seas!:D
osiebosie Posted March 1, 2010 #19 Share Posted March 1, 2010 We bring snacks for the drive to the cruise and, since we don't want to leave them in a hot car, end up bringing them onboard. Of course, they never get eaten. Shay
sunseeker09 Posted March 1, 2010 #20 Share Posted March 1, 2010 We specifically bought some snacks (packaged nuts and trail mix) in SJ before our cruise on the advice here on CC. Since our Dominica tour did not have a lunch stop or include any food, it was suggested to bring some packaged snacks along, since we can't take the ships food off. So we did, and boy are we glad! It was a long haul from breakfast until about 4:00 with only beer. I am thankful for those suggestions! In other ports we figured we could buy lunch, but we did end up taking our leftover snacks along.
gator919 Posted March 1, 2010 #21 Share Posted March 1, 2010 can you get chips or even popcorn anywhere onboard to take back and eat on the balcony. Sorry, I am a chipaholic.

Buster27 Posted March 1, 2010 #23 Share Posted March 1, 2010 You can order chips and pretzels from room service..... Popcorn is available at night when they show movies on the Lido Deck. You can get munchies at most of the bars.....you sometimes have to ask....and they are different each night.
airlink diva Posted March 1, 2010 #24 Share Posted March 1, 2010 I have a weakness for Doritos :D!! I normally keep a small stash of them at work. They are really great at 3:00 a.m. when sitting out on the balcony watching a full moon :D:D!! But I find that either they are too high price or stale in the port cities so I just bring my own. Yes there is plenty of food on board the ship, but sometimes you have a taste for something that's not offered on board.
CruizinMom2c Posted March 1, 2010 #25 Share Posted March 1, 2010 I wont bring any for dh or myself..since there is plenty to eat on board. But I will probably bring a few things for our son. Sometimes he can be pickey, so I want to make sure I have plenty of his favorite snacks.
