Is Millenium OK for Teens?

My husband and I have cruised several times before, but never with Celebrity. We plan on surprising our 16 and 17-year old daughters with a 7-day cruise this year and were looking at the Millenium. After researching reviews, however, a lot of people indicated that the ship was mostly for "elderly" travelers (they even stated most people were over 70 years old). Is that true? I know we took a 10-day cruise on Princess and found it to be true, but were told it was only due to the length of the cruise. We were told that if we took a 7 day cruise, there would have been more people our age (we are in our late 30's).

I really want to take a nice ship, and prefer Celebrity over Carnival, but I want my girls to have the experience of a lifetime, not be bored to death! Can you help?!?! What is there to do onboard during the days at sea? Are there other teens on board their age?

Any insight would greatly be appreciated!!

A lot is going to depend on when and where you are going. If you are taking a Caribbean cruise you should have a pretty good mix of passengers expecially during school vacation periods. There are usually lots of activities for teens however they do tend to make their own fun by getting involved with other kids. This seems to occur on almost all cruise lines, just their nature at that age. The Royal Caribbean Voyager class ships have a lot more options for teens and children but you can't really go wrong with Celebrity.

Also, as a side note, I do not know if this pertains but if your 17 turns 18 by the time of the cruise she will be able to drink with certain limits and gamble in the casino.

Godschild...

I agree with Don's comments. If you are cruising over Spring Break time periods or during summer months...there should be plenty of teens. The same rule of thumb would hold true on any of the major cruiselines. Celebrity is definitely at a higher level of service vs Carnival...However, from a Teen's perspective, my kids always prefered Carnival. My wife and I have always been "low maintenance" so as long as we liked itinerary, food was good and drinks plentiful, we were happy and decided to go with the cruiseline which ur kid's seemed to have the best experience on and enjoy the most.

The cruise we are planning is for the week right before Christmas (during Christmas break), so hopefully there will be others on the ship. We were also looking at Carnival's Triumph, but I have never sailed her before, either. We are alittle worried that during that time of year there may be a lot of older travelers, as well, and not so many teens....comments?

My friend and her 20 year old daughter (Amy) are cruising with me on Century over Spring Break. This is Amy's 4th cruise of which her 1st was at age 16. All of these cruises have been on Celebrity. She always finds things to do and finds lots of friends. She loves the service and the "fine dining" experience. It was very adventurous for her and she enjoyed trying new things. She has never been the loud boisterous type, however. I think she really appreciates the elegance of an X cruise.

You know your teens. Would they like to be treated "famously"?

Godschild,

I was reading these boards for the same reason..I have a 20 year old..a 18 year old...a 14 year old..and an 11 year old. We have been on the Triumph...when it was brand new! Great ship.. I hope it is still great.

We are thinking about Celebrity...for a change of pace?

My kids...do absolutely love Carnival....non-stop fun...non stop young people! We will do the Dec 24th sailing. :)

You will find the average age of X passengers is early 50s. I am 36 have been sailing on X since 2001 and have never had a problem finding people around my own age. Of course, my wife and I are also able to have fun with people older and younger than us. One of our best tables. we sat with two coulples, both in their seventies. But they were young at heart and a lot of fun to be around.
