Edward50 Posted March 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2010 I was offered a Junior Suite on the "hump". I know from past experience that the "hump" area cabins on Voyageur Class is the most sought after because of the view. I turned it down because it has a connecting room. I figured that you must have to give up some space to put in another door. Do you think that I should reconsider?

swcruise Posted March 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2010 I stayed in an interconnecting state room on Navigator - promenade style cabin. My folks had an interconnecting balcony across the hall. Didn't suffer from noise, or any adverse effects.
lorijm23 Posted March 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2010 I wouldn't take it either. We had a connecting room on Navigator and while you don't lose any actual space, they can't block the door so you have a small chair instead of a couch. This made it difficult for our son to lounge or rest during the day and we eventually just had to tell the steward to leave the upper down all day. Will never have one again. cruisefreaks Posted March 13, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2010 You made the right decision - IMO. You loose the love seat and get a chair instead. It's a big waste of space if you don't need to be connected to the room next door. For families, those rooms are great. Otherwise - no way! swcruise Posted March 13, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2010 I'm not sure if the interconnecting rooms are different on different style of ships. On Brilliance our family had two staterooms connecting to each other and both rooms had a sofa..??
sport12 Posted March 13, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2010 We were just on the Radiance with 2 JS with connecting doors - we never actually used them but I saw no loss of space or furniture - had sofa and lounge chair w/ ottoman - maybe there is a difference in the Voyerager vs Radiance class - you can also go on RCCL web site and see each type of suite on each individual ship - there are differences in the size of the JS on different classess
cb at sea Posted March 13, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Unless you already had a JS, I'd have taken it1 A JS is so large, there's no need to "lose" any furniture...it would have been fine!
Edward50 Posted March 13, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Thanks everyone. Your posts were very helpful. I have decided to go with room 9598 which is just a little forward of the hump. It is a regular JS with a pullout couch.
im4golf Posted March 27, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 27, 2010 My concern is whether it would be nosier than having a room that isn't connected. What are your thoughts about that? Has anyone had a connecting room and heard more noise than the other rooms?
fridaythe13th Posted March 27, 2010 #11 Share Posted March 27, 2010 We had a connecting cabin and we heard no noise. The door was at the foot of the bed so we still had a regular size sofa.
madforcruising Posted March 27, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 27, 2010 Most people I think are missing that the OP is talking about a JS here. I´ve stayed in connecting JS cabins and there´s absolutely no loss of furniture in a JS, as the cabin is big enough to have the connecting door and still accomodate the same furniture as a non connecting JS. I´ve never had any problems in a connecting cabin like noise from next door.
