MrsWhite831 Posted March 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2010 I noticed that the price of OV rooms went down today for our cruise so I called to see if we could "upgrade". We were originally in an inside on deck 8 (right outside of Blue Lagoon) Now we are in an oceanview on deck 4. Also- we were able to get a room next door to my sister, who was originally 3 decks away. There was no additional cost and I couldn't turn down extra sq footage w. a crib in the room. Then I noticed that there aren't many cabins on the 4th floor... was this a bad "move"? (noisy? bumpier? etc...)

The cabin areas on the starboard side of deck 4 are most of the officer's quarters. The very senior officers are up on deck 11 next to the bridge. Chazman Posted March 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2010 Not a bad move at all - your room will be fore enough so you're far from noise and vibration from the power plant located aft. Deck 4 consists mostly of ship infrastructure and crew cabins. The ocean view is through a porthole, if I remember correctly, which your kid will love. And you're next to your sister's cabin - all good!
HowardK Posted June 4, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Hello, I had booked an inside GTY, and was offered a deck 4 porthole OV room today. Does the porthole itself close over the window if you want to block out light? Also, is this a "quieter" deck since there a crew cabins on it? I was considering calling to see if I could upgrade to a balcony (currently the difference seems to be $250), but I might enjoy where I was placed more to begin with. cdncruzer Posted June 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 4, 2010 The porthole window in 4502 had a solid "door" to latch closed if you wanted. We did not have this cabin but friends did. They found it extremely noisy at night and especially in the early a.m. as we arrived into port. ....some kind of mechanical clanging and banging coming from the front of the ship.
