Some of the local news shops sell the tickets, but its just as easy to purchase your ticket right at the train station. We have never waited in line for more then a couple of minutes and the BIRG ticket is just 9 Euros.

As you approach the train station there is a tobacco shop across the street by the water. Very quick to get the tix. Be sure to validate the tix in the yellow boxes on the platform as you walk out of the station building.

There is a newsstand next to the info booth across from the port entrance (and McDonalds) that has them. As prevois poster said, across the street from the station, on the front orner facing the station, a tobacco shop/pharmecy that has them. Also, at the newstand inside the station.

I have always gotten them right at the newsstand in the station--no line at all, just hand over your 9 euros and they hand you the ticket. Be SURE to validate the ticket at the little yellow box on the platform--easy to miss, you have to be looking for it!

Thank you GSPLover with help in translating the Italian train schedule and making it a little easier to understand.:) I was a little overwhelmed at some posts about the train travel from Port to Rome. Our June cruise we have decided to take the train. We are not in a rush as we have 4 days post-cruise and feel this will be a good time to get climatized to travel in Rome
