Late for dinner question

 We are booked on 1st sitting on QV, what happens if we are late after a days excursion. Can we eat at the Lido without a reservation.?

On two cruises on QV, on both of which we've been on the first sitting for dinner, I've never been late for dinner after a shore excursion. Remember, port calls are not usually formal nights and, even if the shore excursion is late getting back, there is still usually plenty of time to shower and dress before dinner. But if the worst came to the worst you would be able to eat in the Lido.

From personal experience, they will still seat you for dinner if you are up to 30 minutes late, so you do have some leeway there.

But if for some reason you can't make it for dinner in the main dining room, you can indeed eat in the Lido. The Lido is buffet style - no reservation necessary.

On QM2 last October our shore excursion did not get back to the ship until 6pm. It was a formal evening and we were on 1st sitting. We ended up having dinner in the King's Court that night. You can make an arrangement with the dining room if you know that you will be late - they can usually find a table on 2nd sitting for you - or it is acceptable to arrive 30 minutes late in the dining room and still be served. On QM2 there is always a place to eat in King's Court without a reservation though.
