elldav7 Posted March 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2010 So me and the DW are going with the Carnival excursion to Tabyana beach break (Glory, May 2 sailing). The price is more than the cab ride there, but I like the peace of mind of being on the Carnival excursion, and man the free lemonade just pushes the deal over the edge. ;) So the question is to pack snorkel gear or not. It would be just for this excursion. Does anyone know the cost of rental equipment at the beach? If it's reasonable, I'm not going through the hastle of packing all that extra stuff for one day. Size 13 feet flippers are NOT small.
MamaParrotHead Posted April 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2010 i'm not sure of the price, but I do know they have guys in kayaks out in the water that don't let you go too far out, therefore no need for flippers for SURE. I'f throw the masks and snorkels in and leave the flippers at home.
Steve H Posted April 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I rented flippers for 5 bucks at the beach but had my own mask and snorkel.
sppf121 Posted April 27, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2010 I am taking the same cruise with my family. I want to do this trip, but I am trying to decide if I should book it with the cruise line. Is that what you are going to do.
elldav7 Posted April 28, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted April 28, 2010 Yup, I booked the Tabyana beach break excursion with the cruise line, just for simplicity sake. Haven't started packing yet, but when I do if there's room for the snorkel gear it will go in there (minus the flippers - good call MamaParrotHead). 5 days away, I can't believe it! I'll be the one with the 4 month pregnant DW ;)
elldav7 Posted May 12, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted May 12, 2010 I hate that my sig says "Sailed!" LOL I'll answer my own question here, in case people are wondering and search in the future. There is a building right when you pull up to Tabyana beach that has their snorkel equipment. They wanted 15 bucks for 2 hours. We were planning on being there for about 3, so I went looking for options. There was a guy on the beach selling shells, and had some snorkel gear. He wanted 10 bucks for as long as we wanted so we went with him. I have size 13 feet and he only had one beat up pair of flippers, but they worked fine. So 20 bucks for the wife and me. The snorkeling right from the beach at Tabyana was breathtaking.
