lmnop Posted April 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2010 We will be traveling with 2 small kids requiring car seats. So, we can't use the common open-air safari taxis. We would like to take a taxi to the beach. How do we find a taxi with seatbelts? I read in another thread about making pre-arrangements, is there a list somewhere of taxi companies willing to do that?
runner15km Posted April 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2010 If you are docked at Havensight, walk through the gate and pass through the shops to the street. Look for the "taxi captain" and tell him your needs. http://www.havensightmall.com/
The Islander Posted April 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2010 The most common type of taxi at the cruise ship docks is safaris because the large ones can accomodate 18-20 people, so its efficient for the large number of passengers coming off the ships. There are typically also some taxi vans, very few taxi SUVS or cars. The latter cars and vans would have seat belts and be closed. You can wait until you get there and take the chance of approaching the taxi stand and telling the dispatcher you need a van or closed vehicle, or you can make arrangements ahead of time. Try contacting a taxi association and letting them know what you need and they can make arrangements, try: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=taxi+rates+st.+thomas+and+taxis&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=. --Islander
