Administrators Rare LauraS Posted January 27, 2005 Administrators #1 Posted January 27, 2005 Gentlemen and Ladies: Please refrain from the "steam room" talk here on Cruise Critic. These boards are accessible to all age groups, and that is not what we are all about here. Thank you in advance, Laura
Schplinky Posted March 19, 2005 #2 Posted March 19, 2005 Then could you please remove the "caught having nookie on your balconey" from the Royal Caribbean group. If we can't talk about it, then it shouldn't be okay for anyone to.
CruisinMaterial Posted March 19, 2005 #5 Posted March 19, 2005 Whoops I might be guilty of posting something with a sexual innuendo to it but that was just fun with a cruise countdown! :) I have seen much worse in other posting areas, especially in the Carnival section when searching for people who have gone or are going. Could you make that a global, site-wide announcement???
Schplinky Posted March 19, 2005 #6 Posted March 19, 2005 That's my point. There are threads on all the boards where people get "naughty" but this is the only one I've seen addressed by the moderator. If her concern really is the children, then I would think she will act.
Brian&Dwayne Posted March 19, 2005 #7 Posted March 19, 2005 1) Why the double standard? 2) Why the selective enforcement? I think we all know the answer to both those questions. "if her concern was really the children" I guess we know the answer to that too. I want the same admonishment message posted on the Carnival Forum/nookie thread RCL. However, even if that were done, the fact that we had to point out the double standard speaks volumes about the brush the mod uses to paint with. Speaks volumes.
Babie Posted March 19, 2005 #8 Posted March 19, 2005 I'm willing to think positive. Before I point fingers, name call, or get offended, I'll wait for Laura's next step. Either she'll apologize for the acidental selective censorship and post a similar thread in other forums, or she'll do nothing. We all know there's the same "problem" in other forums, so I'm willing to give the benefit of a doubt and wait. LES!

It's hard to believe that it took nearly two months before anyone replied, and now seven responses just since yesterday? If she truly posted this on January 27, then I believe Babie's "wait and see" approach should have run it's course. Did Laura in fact post on other mainstream boards as Schplinky suggested, or did this board remain her only target?
Babie Posted March 20, 2005 #10 Posted March 20, 2005 Did anyone notice the DATE of Laura's post? January 27 ??? It's hard to believe that it took nearly two months before anyone replied, and now seven responses just since yesterday? If she truly posted this on January 27, then I believe Babie's "wait and see" approach should have run it's course. Did Laura in fact post on other mainstream boards as Schplinky suggested, or did this board remain her only target? My partner pointed the date out to me. I doubt anyone else noticed except the first response. I agree about the wait and see "deadline" being over. I just went through all the threads started by Laura, and this was indeed the only forum she posted this in. (Unless the thread was posted by other people) It's a shame such a nice place as Cruise Critic has this kind of person as a "leader". But then maybe I'm being mean and she was told to post it by someone "higher up" than her. LES!
temcclendon Posted March 20, 2005 #11 Posted March 20, 2005 I remember the thread that Laura is referring to. When she posted this above, there were replies to her request under new threads. One specifically titled "Double standards Maybe". If you do a search, I'm sure you'll find it. And as far as I can see nothing has ever been done or similar statement been made on the other boards content.
turtlemichael Posted March 20, 2005 #12 Posted March 20, 2005 As the OP on the "Double Standards Maybe" thread I believe the problem arose because of a complaint from a regular contributor on this forum., not some endangered child or or offended church vicar! I saw a bit of editing on the Love Stories forum to give the appearance of an even handed approach but nothing else really happened. So now I would remove the word "maybe" from the original post! But it has been thoroughly debated, around the tracks and back again, and its time to move on as nothing said here I am sure is going to change anything. My view is now to say what I want to say about gay and lesbian cruising and let someone else decide if its "against the rules", rather than debate the rules themselves. l just can't see any point in that here.
Schplinky Posted March 22, 2005 #13 Posted March 22, 2005 I was on the Royal Caribbean forum, where folks are talking about their plans to be naughty on the balcony and their experiences of "couples" time during the mud baths in the spa. I didn't offend me. I support the right of heterosexuals to have sex but i sure hope i don't have to see it happening!
