What is the best thing about the Independence?

Recommended Posts

We loved the balcony, the promenade, the WindJammer, Portofino's, the ice rink, the Flow Rider, playing Wii sports, the crew, eggs benedict for breakfast, room service drumettes. The decor is beautiful throughout.

And having a port to be able to drive to helps too!

One of the worst areas is the entrance/exit from Windjammer to pool deck through the revolving doors. They were always breaking down when we were on last November and two members of staff were having to push them round:eek:.

We loved everything else:D.

There is no one best thing about Independence. She is a beautiful and magnificent ship.

Especially when she does the 8 night eastern caribbean out of FLL..Taking her away...RCI reconsider :(

I totally agree about those doors to the pool area. Who designed that? The kids were constantly playing and getting it to stop suddenly and people were banging against the door. It's slow and stops and it's crazy. Chops is great. The waiter William and his assistant Suzette are awesome. We ate there 4 out of the 6 nights.

Worst part for us was luke warm food (Hopefully we caught then on a bad week)

Best thing was getting an invite to the bridge and meeting the captain :)

The really bad thing was being made to leave after 14 days how rude ;)

There are only good things about the Independence - it is a fantastic ship. The worst part is getting off at the end of the cruise! I agree with the earlier post about the revolving doors - they are always getting stuck. One thing I love is going up to the Olive or Twist Bar, right at the top of the ship, before dinner and having a glass of wine looking out over the ocean. You can't beat it. That's what I'll be doing in 100 nights time - can't wait.

Do they have parades everyday? We are on a 3 night cruise, will all the parades be different or do they repeat the same parade later in the day?

On a 7/8 night cruise there is one on the first night and another toward the end of the week. They are not the same. I don't know what they do on a 3 night cruise aas I have never been on one.

The Mystery Dinner Theater is a hoot! Act 1 is in Olive or Twist with cocktails & hors d'oeuvres, then you move to Portofino for dinner & Act 2. Portofino is fabulous-well worth the upcharge. The Mystery Dinner sells out, so book ahead.

The street parties on the Royal Promenade are a lot of fun.

Service is uniformly excellent, but the food ranges from outstanding to average. Overall I'd give it a B to B+. Holland America this is not. The fries in Windjammer are the best I've ever had-truly.

Eating outside at Johnny Rockets is well worth the $4.95.

I'm not sure how you meant that but I, for one, am very glad it is not Holland America.

Just got off the IOS two weeks ago, sadly.

The best thing about it... too many to pick just one....

The fruity drinks

The adult pool

The lasagna

The whole experience!

Worst thing about it...

Did hate those revolving doors!

Hard to find a spot for 10 in the Windjammer

Didn't know about the afternoon snacks til the cruise was almost done!
