Deliziosa..Tea making facilities in Cabin

How was the ship? Did you enjoy it? How was the food?

Did you do any drink packages?

We were on the ship in March.

It is a great ship in all senses of the word, and the crew/staff are excellent, from all over the World.

We had a ball.

The food was ok. Not great, not spectacular. But ok. We didn't go to feast, but we did expect excellent, not ok. Having said that, it didn't really detract from a great trip.

We did J2 as a drinks package and had we not made any trips, and drunk a darned sight more than we ever normally do, then it would have been worth paying for that package. Perhaps.

We paid £450 [nearly $700] for 7 nights for two of us. Checking back on the bar bills and what we consumed in the restaurant, we probably fell short of that by £130 [$200] in our actual drinking, so it would have been better to have used a different package, or simply paid for drinks, as that would have given us decent wine to drink at dinner.

The cappuccini at the bars are excellent, by the way.

Looking back, the cost of J2 has faded and the pleasure of the voyage is what remains.

One of the reasons I don't cruise with Costa anymore is the poor quality of the wine

This is not that Italian wines are poor they are good but we have a theory that there is a Mafia contract to supply these inferior wines and they charge a high price for them

We live in Spain and holiday in Italy there is no comparison with the wines this information comes from over 20 cruises with Costa

There are tea/coffee making facilities in the Samsara cabins.

We find the wine selection on Costa to be quite good, ranging from the cheaper wines to the more expensive for connoisseurs. I always order our wine by the bottle directly from the extensive wine list. Prices for excellent wines are comparable to wines found in the better restaurants in Italy: €23-28.00. A great connoisseur wine can be had in the €40-50.00 range. McDermott your Mafia theory is just that - a theory (but without foundation).
