sealegs14 Posted April 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2010 I'm going on my first cruise this summer with my husband and 2 children (son age 13, daughter age 6) - Norweigan Jade. Myself and the kids are really excited, but husband is not convinced, so he's starting to sow seeds of doubt : Are cruises a really good vacation for families? How many kids on average will be on a cruiseliner? Will we be dominated by the older generation? Are we likely to get seasick? Will the entertainment and food by ok? We booked a balcony cabin to give us a bit more space, whilst enjoying the air and view. Was this a good move - should we try to upgrade to something even bigger, as 4 may be cramped in the cabin? So many questions....
paul929207 Posted April 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2010 Cruises are great vacations for a family. If you call NCL, they should be able to tell you how many kids will be on your sailing, but during the summer there will be many kids. No, you and your husband will not be the 3rd and 4th youngest people on board. Most people do not get seasick. Have any of you had problems with any motionsickness in the past? Entertainment and food will be very good.
cb at sea Posted April 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2010 A normal cabin can be cramped, but truthfully, you won't all be gathered in there except to sleep at night. During the day, the kids are out and about at the kids club or pool or sports deck! It's all good!
6rugrats Posted April 24, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2010 I see you live in the UK, so you can't cancel this cruise anyway without losing all your money can you? No use to second guess now. He will probably surprise himself and be the one who doesn't want to get off the ship.
sealegs14 Posted April 25, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Thanks for the feedback! I'm sure we will all have a ball. Really looking forward to the new experience, so won't be cancelling and really hope to win husband over, and perhaps do it again and again!! We'll take some motion sickness remedies just in case. I'm the only one in the family who usually suffers, and only in really poor conditions on small boats around the Med...
