Little Red Posted June 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2004 I'm cruising on the Mariner in September. I have cruised with Carnival a few times and on my last 2 cruises you had the option of carrying your own luggage off the ship. Does RCCL have the same option or does the luggage have to be put outside the door for pick up? Thanks for all your help. Petra ****Proud member of O.A.T.C. jwlane Posted June 1, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2004 I'd say try it. Just don't be surprised when you get a thorough going over, interrogation and sniffing by customs and the cute puppy dog!
Feline1202 Posted June 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2004 In April, on the Mariner, they had an early debarkation option where you could carry your own luggage off. But you had to get a pass which were first come, first serve and they were limited so get one as soon as you can. Also, you have to be able to lift your luggage and keep one hand on the escalator or you have to use the elevator and there is a long line for the elevator. But, friends who used this option were in their car by 8:00 and home before I even got off the ship!
TomCat32174 Posted June 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2004 A word on customs... sinec I work in construction, I have 1 nice watch that rarely gets worn except for nice dinners, cruises, ect.. well customs was trying to get me to have to claim my watch that I bought at Wal-mart of all places... so I think it would be best not to try to take you own luggage off the ship, plus the time it takes to get off the ship, the lines that you have to go through to get to customs, especially on a ship the size of Mariner, other departing passengers would not be too happy seeing you trying to pull luggage and tying up the lines when you get to the custom agent. Little Red Posted June 1, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Thanks everyone. Your responses are truly appreciated. We may have take our own luggage - depending what time we need to be off the ship. What's the average time to get off? Or is there an average - lol. I guess what I'm asking is - if you have 12:00 noon flight out of Orlando - what time should you be off the ship? Petra ****Proud member of O.A.T.C.
