welove2cruise* Posted January 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2005 Has anyone who has recently visited Roatan taken a taxi to the West End for shopping? If so, how much pp? Thanks
Roos Posted January 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2005 This will depend on when and where you are catching the cab from. If you are coming off of the cruise ship and catch your cab at the dock, the standard fare is $10 or $15 per person. If you walk into Coxen Hole (about a 10 minute walk), the ride to West End is 25 lempiras (about US$2), but try not to behave like you are "fresh off the boat"! LisaV Posted February 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2005 I went outside the gates and bartered with the cabbies, my day was like this: Pier - West End - $5 + $1 tip West End - West Bay Beach (Fosters Resort) - $10 + $2 tip, same driver West Bay Beach - Pier - $10 + $2 tip, again same driver Please don't pay $20 one way, see roatanonline.com - the more tourists pay, the more the rates get too high for the locals to afford. Even my $5 trip was more than they advise, which was 18 Lempiras, but I did so to have someone pick me up at specified times. Lisa
