mizazu Posted May 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2010 Has anyone taken RC out of the port of Harwich, England? If so did you take the train from London, a taxi or the ship's transportation? What were your pros/cons?
kitty9 Posted May 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2010 The train is quite easy, but the main con is you have to handle all your luggage on your own. But the stop for Harwich is right there at the port, about 100 yards away. We took a private car, but that is quite expensive---about $300 British Pounds, but this was from Heathrow. Bill S Posted May 6, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2010 We did a pre-cruise package and it included a bus transfer from London to Harwich. It took about 90 minutes and we were let off by the train terminal, collected our luggage and walked to the ship terminal. It was easy. The train terminal is as kitty9 stated. Have a great cruise! greatdanemom Posted May 8, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2010 We used the ship's transportation from Heathrow to Harwich. The Pros: Once we found the cruise line's transportation coordinator in Heathrow we were able to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds knowing we were headed to our ship. It was fun being on a bus with fellow cruisers, too. Everyone was excited and comparing notes. The Cons: Probably that we had to wait a while in the very crowded airport before leaving for Harwich (and paid $5 for a warm Coke :p.) Also, while traveling we were with fellow Americans and didn't get to enjoy more of the local experience.
