Monarch Review with Pictures

Recommended Posts

Thanks for sharing with everyone. I LOVE pics with a review! I haven't sailed on the Monarch yet but sailed on the ol' Sovereign many times! Brings back memories. I have to live vicariously through you until my 2 week Med cruise in June! I can't wait!! I will have WAY too many pics to show them all, but promise to post some.:D

**Just a thought, have you all looked into reserving a room at the Comfort Suites hotel across the street from Atlantis? Not sure the prices when you are there but it includes all inclusive passes to Atlantis. You can book one room for all of you and get the wrist bands. Our friends just did this a month ago for their family of 4 and it was much more affordable.

We rented a room at Comfort Suites and its more than the regular hotels b/c of the access to the Atlantis. Can't remember exactly but over $200. We went back to CS to shower after the pool and beach at Atlantis. That was nice having a full size shower. Loved the review!

Great review from a fellow Michigander.

We will be on the Monarch for 7 nights in September.

Yup 4 nights is too short and the 3 night was too short so we are doing a back to back and I need my balcony so we got a good price in a Junior Suite.

thats the only problem with the Monarch the only way you get a balcony is in a JS or above.

Sounds great! I will watch for your review. We are interested in doing the Med cruise someday. I hear you on the pics. We had so many that it took forever to pick the ones to post here.

I think they paid about $200, too. The price does fluxuate a bunch though. When we looked last night it was $189 for a weds. coming up.

Hey Saginaw! Michigan weather was horrible while we were gone.:) LOL. We would have loved to stay on for the next 3 days. Cant wait for your review! :)With the way prices were when we booked the Monarch we should have done just that. The cruise was cheaper than the extra hotel nights. lol.

Thanks..beach pass may be good for my husband and I.. I did look into the comfort suites, but at this point there are no rooms available for the day we are in port and we dont know if we want to take the chance of not being able to do coco cay on the day we're supposed to and the nassau day being changed last minute anyway.

With the beach pass, are you allowed to come back when you want to, or do you only have a certain time limit there?

The pass is good all day long but the water taxi ends at 5:30 (I think). So if you stay later you have to take your own taxi back to port. We were in Nassau until midnight so really we could have stayed at Atlantis quite late.

I really enjoyed your review of the Monarch, it brought back many fond memories of my cruise this past September. It was a great ship, loved Coco Cay, and really met alot of fun people. In fact we are cruising with a large group we met there last year, this September on the Granduer. Reading all of these great reviews really makes me anxious to go again!!!!

Thanks for the review! We'll be on Monarch exactly one month from today so I'm soaking up all the information. Where did you get the mojito? I'm always on the lookout for a good one.

At the Lido Bar. That bar definately makes the best. I had 2 and they were delicous! (speaking of which, I could use one now) They have a lounge inside that specializes in Mojitos called Bolleros but in my humble (but well educated in Mojitos ;)) opinion, they were overpriced and not as good.

We almost missed it. They had this deal on Monday but we wanted to wait to buy it, they were 2/$24 on Thursday but they hooked us us with the Monday price ;) Very hard to buy alcohol at home after seeing these type of deals!

Great review and I love the pictures. It looks like you guys had a wonderful time. Did you win anything at all in the casino? We love playing the slot machines, but to date, no huge winnings to report. How was the food on the ship? We typically cruise out of Port Canaveral and thankfully we have not been driving in when the shuttle was taking off....I would hate to be trying to get to the ship and stuck in that line! Which cruise are you taking in September?

Awesome! That will be my first stop on the ship.

Oh no. The casino gods were not on our side this trip. :( They weren't with us at Atlantis' casino either... Although I must say at Atlantis if we "knew when to fold 'em" we could have taken a bit of their money..but greed took over and the rest is history!

The food was okay. Very sad that we had no Lobster. Portions were smaller overall, we thought (but that was a good thing for us b/c we are to greedy for our own good;)) The buffets were fine but frustrating b/c they closed right at the time that we would get back to the ship from excursions or whatever for a couple of hours. Room service was great. i used them as my wake up call each day and they were prompt and accurate!

We cruise on Carnival Liberty 9/4/10 :) Come join us! We have a pretty active roll call. Hoping for maybe Oasis September 2011.... If I can convince Shon that it's not too big and the prices drop..fingers crossed.

Like WOW, what can I say to the best of the best. Your review is like a Masterpiece and I like some others think that photo of you and The Mojito Is great. True it looks as if you and Shon had a terrific time. Hope that we shall have as much fun if not more so when we all get to cruise in September on The Liberty. I just loved seeing your photos and reading your review. If you should get a chance check your e-mails. Lisa and Gary LoneStarCruisinCouple:)
