europe itinerary?

I'm thinking of taking my family (kids 13 & 11) to Europe next summer. I like the northern itinerary better but wooried about cold weather and rough seas compared to the Med. Any suggestions?

The first cruise I ever went on was to Scandinavia/Russia. The pax were a much older generation (I was in my 50's)....and as much as I loved the cities...Stockholm, Olso, Helsinki I think kids would enjoy the Med. more. If the northern cruise included St. Petersburg...that in itself would almost be worth the cruise. I have traveled the Med. and really love that area...I think the kids would love Italy more than the Scandinavian countries. Sorry...I forgot to answer your questions! [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif[/img] We were there in August and I wore I sweatshirt everyday. The North Sea is a very rough sea...my husband was sea sick crossing it...both ways.

We took a Scandinavian/Baltic cruise that started in Stockholm and ended in Copenhagen so we could avoid travelling from England, as we thought that section on the seas would be rough.

We encountered the European heat wave in july-August, 2003, and sweltered.

We did the Baltic in July, 2001. It was close to 90 degrees in St. Petersburg. As far as the ocean conditions, the entire trip was so calm, I never knew the ship was moving.
