Cecilia V. Posted May 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Debating between staying at the Downtown Hyatt Miami or the Hampton Blue Lagoon. Found a rate of $103 for the Hampton (which includes breakfast) or $132 for the Hyatt (also including breakfast). Will be arriving in Miami around 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday and cruising out the next morning. Myself, husband, and 2 teenage daughters. Can't seem to decide which one to take. Recommendations? If we stay at the Hampton, what's the best way to get to the port the next morning and how much should it cost? Thanks for your help!!!

Cecilia V. Posted May 20, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Yes, Music City, the Summerfield Suites does look very nice. Unfortunately, they allow pets and my kids have allergies so we prefer not to stay in room where animals have been. Thanks for the suggestion. Music City Posted May 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Yes, Music City, the Summerfield Suites does look very nice. Unfortunately, they allow pets and my kids have allergies so we prefer not to stay in room where animals have been. Thanks for the suggestion. They allow pets but charge $150-$200 fee so how often do you really think someone brings their pets to Miami for that much money? Secondly, they deep clean the rooms that had pets. At least with the Summerfield Suites they would have a record of which rooms had pets in the last 4 months. In a hotel that doesn't allow pets you could get a room that had a pet in it, but of course the hotel wouldn't know about it since they don't allow them. And there would be no deep cleaning afterwards.
Cecilia V. Posted May 20, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted May 20, 2010 That may be so, but I'm still interested in responses to my 2 choices-- Hyatt Miami or Blue Lagoon Hampton. I appreciate your opinions about those hotels. Thanks!
STARFISH*4 Posted May 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2010 since you have a later flight in i would choose Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon it is right across the street from a Publix-last minute snacks or soda, places to eat...we ate at the Chinese place very GOOD food...there are fast food places nearby...cvs and walgreens on the corner...we had a VERY NICE stay at the Hampton in December and wouldnt hesitate to stay there again. Cecilia V. Posted May 20, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Thanks, Starfish. How did you get to the port in the morning? Cost?
JohninDC Posted May 20, 2010 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2010 We stayed around the corner in the Homewood Suites-Blue Lagoon. Shopping center/Publix/liquor store was handy for cruise supplies :D and we enjoyed Casa Juan (Cuban food ) for dinner - the Italian place also looked nice. There's a commercial shuttle outfit that can take you to POM for $10 each - check with the front desk; we had the front desk call a cab for us and the fare including tip was under $30. Good luck!:)
