wdwfamily Posted May 25, 2010 #26 Share Posted May 25, 2010 I too get some of my best nights sleep on a cruise! A few cruises ago when it was just my husband and I, I slept the first two days away with no problem :) I also love to nap with my little ones when we are cruising. The darkened room is perfect :)
cottagemama Posted May 25, 2010 #27 Share Posted May 25, 2010 On our last cruise of 17 days, I had a lounge chair on our balcony and spent afternoons on sea days relaxing and napping. The gentle rolling of the ship put me to sleep and I slept wonderfully at night but was always awake by 6:30 am
BroncosFan2010 Posted May 25, 2010 #28 Share Posted May 25, 2010 We spend so much time snorkeling and being adventurous that we are usually all tuckered out at night that we are asleep seconds after our head hits the pillow!
Happy ks Posted May 25, 2010 #29 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Sleeping is one of my favorite things to do on a cruise :) The first time I ever used the generic meclizine that so many people recommend I think I slept for the first 3 days. Then I threw away the rest of the bottle and kept a more normal schedule. But, I love to take naps, sleep in on sea days and even go to bed early. joyride21 Posted May 25, 2010 #30 Share Posted May 25, 2010 I always thought DH and I were kinda lame because we pass out shortly after late seating dinner, and we are in our 20's. But then on our Mex Riv cruise we did the Outdoor Adventure with a bunch of other 20 somethings and we all got to talking. Turns out none of the 14 of us could ever manage to stay up much past 11pm because we were so active during the day. This made me feel a lot better. :)
whyrlygig Posted May 25, 2010 #31 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Cruise sleeping is the best! BFF and I had 3 naps in one day on my last cruise.
alexw Posted May 25, 2010 #32 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Well I'm different from most posters here. I do not get any sleep on a cruise. I wake up to watch the sunrise and the pilot boat lead us to the particular destination. Then Im constantly busy doing ship activities or exploring some island until the wee hours of the morning. To conclude my night, Im either closing the dance club or the casino. I try to catch a nap or two but im afraid im going to miss something. I get 3 to 4 hours of sleep, if that. I usually come home exhausted. But, I love it!!!!

I'm convinced that on every cruise there's a group of night owl passengers with whom I never cross paths.
Silque1964 Posted May 25, 2010 #34 Share Posted May 25, 2010 We get so used to our early afternoon naps that returning to work is torture! About 1 or 2 every afternoon, the sleepies hit, and I mourn for my passed cruise. Ahh, cruise naps....
saltsandknit Posted May 25, 2010 #35 Share Posted May 25, 2010 I sleep as little as possible I MIGHT MISS SOMETHING! honestly I get up early, play a lot, have a nap, goof off some more, dance all night. over and over. RetireeWannabee Posted May 25, 2010 #36 Share Posted May 25, 2010 I love napping on a cruise since I never get to at home. My favorite is falling asleep while looking out at the sea. yeeesssss!!!! chair hogs don't stray from the pool so there are always quiet loungers on deck looking out. ahhhhhh
OKC Cruisers Posted May 25, 2010 #37 Share Posted May 25, 2010 This is one reason my wife and I actually prefer inside cabins. They can be quite dark. Add in the rocking motion and I am asleep in record time!

NYCRUISR Posted May 25, 2010 #40 Share Posted May 25, 2010 So anyways, I manage to improve my cabin on Enchantment OTS from a D2 to a D1, so I put a thread on here asking for cabin differences. Cabins are the same size; only answer says the cabins are identical except D1 has better quality bedding. Is that it? I mean, who has time to sleep on a cruise anyways?:o Sleep? Well, maybe a bit more these days than we used to. I needed a vacation to rest AFTER the cruise. lol.
ehfl Posted May 25, 2010 #41 Share Posted May 25, 2010 I have plenty of time to sleep....by the pool...in the hammocks....at the beach...in the cabin.
kruzerci Posted May 25, 2010 #42 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Apparently I'm not like most on here! We wake up at sunrise and enjoy the empty ship and pool deck, get breakfast, enjoy the day on the sun deck or at the pool, go to dinner and go to the casino or club until the wee morning hours. Every once in a while we will spend most of the night relaxing on the balcony. We sleep well on a cruise, we just don't sleep much on a cruise! We usually do Sat-Sat so we have a day to recover when we get home. I don't always come home rested but I come home relaxed and energized.
GlenandVal Posted May 25, 2010 #43 Share Posted May 25, 2010 we usually do sat to sat or sun to sun but always make sure we have a day after to sleep as on the last day of the crusie we always have to get up so darn early Dh s snoring does not bother me on the crusie we sleep well on all of our many cruises would love to live on a cruise full time
i'llbesea-ingyou Posted May 25, 2010 #44 Share Posted May 25, 2010 I am not one for naps but on a cruise, I find myself taking them whenever I can! There's just something so relaxing about being on that ocean.....I'm getting sleepy now thinking about it. We do plenty of things but it's funny when you get back to your cabin and look at that freshly made bed. It calls to you and says, "come, lay down, rest for a while, you've had a long day". Ahhhhhhhhhhh......and then I succumb. :D
