FT. Lauderdale Attractions?

Hi Again!

Kids in Florida are kind of hard. Ft. Lauderdale and Miami are rather beachy, so if you like to play in the surf, you're in luck.

There are a few things that might be fun for the kiddos.

MetroZoo in Miami, lots of tropical species, might be super hot in the summer, making the animals a tad lethargic.

Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science 401 SW 2nd Street (near Los Olas) can be fun. They have a thing with bowling balls that tells time and an Imax theater.

I would have recommended Quiet Waters park in Deerfield Beach, but it's closed for rennovations.

Sawgrass Mills has a movie theater and neat restaurants, including Rainforest Cafe, but I wouldn't go out of my way unless you don't have one in your home town.

There's a neat place north of Ft. Lauderdale Beach called Aruba, it's a beach restaurant. They play Jimmy Buffet and Reggae music, great food and cocktails. There's a pier to walk on, and of course the beach. It's at the corner of Commercial and the actual beach.

Remember, stay hydrated and use strong sunscreen!

What attractions/must sees would you recommend for a family with 2 boys-ages 7 and 10-thanks!

Also interested in Miami too!

The Jungle Queen boat ride is fun for the whole family. http://www.junglequeen.com/

An airboat ride, along with watching an alligator show is also a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Miami Zoo is fabulous, but as mentioned, in the summer, it can be really hot and humid.

Here's some specific info for kid-friendly places in the greater Ft Lauderdale area:
