serene56 Posted June 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2010 SMoking is allowed in all cabins/balconies--doesnt make a difference what side of the ship its on.
kakarp Posted June 17, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2010 Here's the way I have always remembered. And many years later I still do. Both words have an R in them but you hear the R in staRboard. R is for Right side or staRboard. Kevin
highbridge5 Posted June 17, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2010 My trick is similar to NS-Cruiser Port is the smaller of the two words: port and starboard Left is the smaller of the two words: left and right port=left because they are both the short words
Cinderose Posted June 17, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 17, 2010 Or P is closer to the L in the alphabet (Port/Left) & S is closer to the R (Star/Right)
spunkanutter Posted June 17, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 17, 2010 If you're standing on the ship looking forward, the port is the drivers side of the ship and the starboard is the passenger side of the ship. :)
okgirl Posted June 17, 2010 #11 Share Posted June 17, 2010 Also, the port (left) side of a passenger deck have the even number cabins. Odd numbers are on the starboard side.

CRJ700 Posted June 17, 2010 #14 Share Posted June 17, 2010 Think of an airliner. The Captain sits on the left and the FO sits on the right. "The Capt drinks Port while the FO STARves."
Traveler353 Posted June 17, 2010 #15 Share Posted June 17, 2010 When I was in Navy boot camp for the misguided few that could just not seem to get it right. They painted the top of hands with the letter P and S.
