Quiet Stateroom? Very Quiet

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – 263em88.jpg

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal for class

65qz4k.jpg

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? – Two bedrooms. One bedroom was like an ocean view cabin with the bathroom in room – the master suite. The second was like an inside cabin without a bathroom. The second bathroom was off the main hallway across from the second bedroom. There is also a large walk in closet. It is also off the main hallway, across from the bathroom. The large living room and dinette were a great place for family time.

Ship - Serenade Of The Seas, Feb 2012

Deck - 8

Stateroom # -8564

Stateroom Category – E1

Stateroom Location: Between the Centrums, midship- forward Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – No Noise issues at all

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Balcony view was good. Partially obstructed forward and aft by the humps but pretty good.

Balcony Size? Normal

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - NA

Any specific problems with this cabin? -The divider to the balcony to the right is smaller due to a part of the ship structure. There is a gap all the way around making privacy impossible. Also we had a smoker as a neighbor on that balcony so the gap just increased the smoke infiltration.

Any other comments? - RCI allows smoking of the balconies. With a gap in the divider aft plus the natural circulation of the wind and air currents with ship movement, the smokers we had forward resulted in significant smoke infiltration to our balcony being carried on the breeze. If smokers as neighbors is an issue, I would find a different balcony or as we are,a different cruise line.

Ship - Independence of the Seas

Deck - 7

Stateroom - 7408

Stateroom Category - E1 corner balcony aft

Starboard or Portside - starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) - quiet in the interior, could hear conversations from balconies above and below while outside

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – incredible views all around!!!

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - gigantic balcony with 2 chairs, small low drinks table, and 2 lounge chairs, enough space for an army :D

Was wind a problem? - not while we were out on the balcony, but to be honest there must be some wind (maybe only late at night??) because over the course of our 11 night cruise 2 cigarette butts managed to find their way onto our balcony.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - no

Any specific problems with this cabin? no

Any other comments? Our cabin was located near a service door but we never heard any noise or even observed any staff using it. We liked the spacious hallway that all the aft cabins are located in. The only thing we disliked is that there were smokers in the two cabins below us on Deck 6. Smokers' cough is kinda gross to overhear and cigarette smoke is not what we love smelling while trying to enjoy our balcony.

Ship - Mariner of the Seas

Deck - 10

Stateroom # - 1320

Stateroom Category – Owner's Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet. We were right in the middle of the hump with easy access to the elevators and stairs. It was a quick walk up to the Windjammer or a quick walk down to the CL. We did have a couple doorbell ringers, but I suppose that is to be expected on a Spring Break cruise!

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Nice size balcony with a view both forward and aft. Our balcony had the padded wicker furniture...we had two chaise lounges, two regular chairs and a glass topped table.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

2130896350064365838S600x600Q85.jpg

Was wind a problem? - No, the wind on the balcony was minimal.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? - We had so much storage space I couldn't remember where I put things! I did struggle a bit with the lack of places to keep toiletries in the shower...I would recommend taking bottles or even a little corner shelf with suction cups.

This was our first "real" RCCL suite, and we absolutely loved it! My husband is resigned to the fact that it would be hard to go back to a JS after being spoiled by this incredible cabin!

I took a LOT of pictures...so many that I gave them their own album on Webshots! Just click on any of the pictures to view the entire album.

Any other comments? - Storage space was enormous! The walk in closet really was walk-in, even with a stroller stored in there we could still use it as a mini change room. The curtain beside the bed pulled out half way across the room. We had a pack 'n play set up the entire trip and it hardly took away from the floor space. Shower has a curtain.

Ship - Navigator of the Seas (NOTS)

Deck - 7

Stateroom # - 7688

Stateroom Category – E1

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) –Located at the very aft on the stern of the ship, it is a very quiet location with no hallway traffic.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Aft stern balconies give 180 degree panoramic views but are considered an obstructive view on the voyager and freedom class ships because of the superstructure on the rear of the ship. The higher the deck, the less obstructive. This deck 7 corner aft has a 6 foot side porthole that makes the covered balcony feel more open and also affords the only straight down aft water view on these classes of ships.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Deck 7 corner aft balconies are HUGE with 2 chaise lounges in addition to the standard 2 chairs and small table.

Was wind a problem? - No. Aft balconies are more sheltered from wind.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - We have not had a soot problem on the Navigator.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Aft balconies are HAUNTED  so people should avoid booking them (save them for us instead :p).

aft-haunted.gif

Any other comments? - The cabin is a standard E1 (loveseat vs. sofa you would get in a D1). Some people say there is more motion being aft but we did not notice this. Some people don't like the infrastructure at the back of the ship. The balcony is not stepped but completely covered by deck 8 above. This keeps it dry in the event of rain but does limit the amout of sun it receives. There is some light pollution and sometimes noise from crew deck 5. It is a LONG walk to the elevators (which entitles you to TWO desserts!;):D).

LOVE IT!!!! We just had 7388 on the Navigator, corner aft other side! LOVE the picture with the ghosts! HAHAHA! my husband and I got a kick out of this!

We are so excited we have the same balcony on the Adventure 3/3/2013!!!! YAY!!! :D

Ship - Freedom of the Seas

Deck - 8

Stateroom # - 8307

Stateroom Category – Family Promenade

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Sometimes, quiet except for the Britannia Rockin' Street Party (10:45 PM) and Dreamworks parade (11:15 PM - really). Really loud for parades so you will probably wake up. Kids slept through it, adults did not

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -NO

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No Balcony - Could see Promenade with view of Cafe Promenade and we were right over the Ben & Jerry's so we got the top view of the cows (no ice cream for that)

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - This was large and well laid out. Walk in closet, yep really.

Was wind a problem? - No.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Noise during parades, everything else was great.

Any other comments? - I have read reviews say this would be tight for 5 people, well everything is tight for 5 people. I looked into FOV on Deck 7 during debarkation and the family promenade was better laid out and had more storage and was $800 or so cheaper. It is a long walk from FOV to pool and windjammer.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Ship - Mariner of the Seas

Deck - 2

Stateroom # - 2310

Stateroom Category – H

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Quiet room with the exception of port mornings. This room is directly over the hatches for disembark and tendering. The noise usually woke us up around 5 am, but it wasn't terrible. Other than that, zero night noise.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes, 2312.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None with the exception of the noise on port mornings.

Any other comments? - Very close to elevators. Very quiet hallway. Felt zero movement even on 15' sea days because it's so low and midship. Liked the cabin enough we rebooked it for the next cruise.

... I'm all for that. :)

Ship - Monarch of the Seas

Deck - 5

Stateroom # - 5057

Stateroom Category – K Inside

Starboard or Port Side - Midship

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Fairly quiet. I could hear hallway traffic since it was a corner room, but it wasn't enough to keep me awake.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Not applicable, inside cabin.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Not applicable, inside cabin.

Was wind a problem? - Not applicable, inside cabin.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Not applicable, inside cabin.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - At the time of sailing (September of '10) I actually found infant cockroaches running in and out of the drawers of the vanity. This problem has most likely been fixed by now, but I was so shocked at the time that I made an immediate complaint, and had to watch conditions in my house for a couple of months afterward - all it takes is one or two of those things brought home in a bag to infest an entire house. (This incident REALLY upset me, a lot.)

Any other comments? - I probably wouldn't rebook this one, but then I'm liable to not rebook Monarch altogether (mainly because of the above incident).

Ship - Freedom of the Seas

Deck - 7

Stateroom - 7500

Stateroom Category - FOV (Family Ocean View) - No balcony

Room faced forward toward front of ship

Quiet Stateroom - Yes, very quiet, except when using bowthrusters when docking.

Connecting Stateroom? - NO

Any problems with this cabin? - No, except the toilet was covered with black streaks

Any other comments? - This is a huge oceanview cabin with two large portholes. There is a queen size bed, queen size sleeper sofa, and a separate room with bunkbeds. In addition there were two padded stools to sit on, a chair, and a coffee table. We lucked out since we booked late and this room was available for the three of us. Normally, this room has a minimum occupancy of 5. Great view of the bow of the ship and beyond!
