That's how the staff pronounced it when we were on the NCL Sun in Dec. I paid attention, cause I was confused also.

I've heard the locals call it "Rowtan".

Most of the natives I know pronounce it "Row-uh-tan" but some say the "Row" part so quickly that it almost comes out "Ruh-tan." And if you fly there via mainland Honduras, the Spanish speaking mainlanders pronunciation sounds more like "Ruh-tahn" (but said VERY quickly, almost as one syllable).

I lived on Roatan for a few months. The pronunciation would be ro-ah-tahn. Hope this helps...
