Precruise Hotel in Miami

Does anyone no of a decent hotel to stay in thats close to the port of Miami for one night the day before our cruise that wont cost a arm and a leg does not have to be a 5 star hotel, we will be flying into Miami on Friday February 4th 2011.:)

What does "arm and a leg" mean to you? Feb IS in peak season. Use priceline ( or hotwire) and bid in the downtown area and you'll be near the port. Look at at least 3 star properties and you'll be okay.

We have always booked on priceline, got a great deal (bidding 4-star, less than $100).

Flying into FLL or MIA?:confused: Hotels tend to be cheaper near FLL, and often flights to FLL are significantly cheaper than into MIA.

 

My advice is to book your flights, then book a hotel you will be satisfied with that you can cancel without penalty. Then keep looking for sales and deals and change your reservation when you find one.

 

You are probably too far out to get much of a deal on Priceline - check the sticky on top of this board for recnet winning bid info and check out sites like www.betterbidding.com for more advice on Priceline strategy.

 

If you just want a clean, safe, and relatively inexpensive (for peak season) hotel near MIA check out the Blue Lagoon area - Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites and many others. Free airport shuttle, shopping and dining options across the street:D, and a $10 per person shuttle (or $30 cab) ride to POM the next day. No nightlife or views of the port.:(

There is the Holiday Inn at Bayside. Take a look at that one to see if it fits your budget.

Any mid-priced chain in Blue Lagoon area will suit you wonderfully well. Many have shuttles either to or from the airport or to or from the port.

La Quinta Airport ( either one) is a great stay. Free Parking, free shuttle, free breakfast. NEVER had a problem with them.. Try them, or for a few extra dollars, try the Embassy Suites next door. Great breakfast, and shuttle is $10 per person. It all depends on what you are looking for in a hotel.

How easy is the free shuttle. I know you sign up and it is on a first come, first serve, how long did you have to wait?
