DougH Posted August 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2010 Thanks for the review, I board the Royal on Monday :) I was wondering what time disembarkation started and when/how you got to the airport. I've got an 11:30 am flight and am a little concerened about timing. (the airline moved it up 40 minutes on me after booking)
JanetAlice Posted August 10, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2010 You can be the first off the ship if you take your own luggage. I think that is about 7:30. We used Seattle Transfers from the ship to the airport. It was $12 per person. We disembarked around 8:45 and got to the airport around 10:15, probably too late for your flight. hollon Posted August 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2010 Thanks for your review. I am planning on going to alaska next yr. I want to do whale watching in juneau AND do glacier trekking - after landing on a glacier yourself which one would you do if you had a choice. The reason that I ask is because they are both in Juneau, thanks again
JanetAlice Posted August 10, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted August 10, 2010 I would suggest Glacier Trekking first. You may be able to do a whale watch in another port depending on which cruise you are taking. With that being said the wildlife was incredible this year. wwinfl91 Posted August 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2010 Thanks for the review and for posting to our roll call so we knew it was there. It sounds like you had a great cruise on a great ship. We will be on her next Monday and hope to do a review when we get back. Thanks again and have a great next cruise.
cruznliz Posted August 10, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2010 We appreciated the review as we are leaving next Monday as well!:D I noticed you only gave the "entertainment" a 2. Was there something you didn't like? Also were there a fair number of slot machines in the casino, or a pathetic number?

JanetAlice Posted August 10, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted August 10, 2010 There were about 30 slots in the casino, including dollars, quarters and yes, pennies. I don't smoke however and since the casino is small the smoke tends to concentrate in the slots area. There were 2 non-smoking nites. We actually hit a couple of jackpots and left the casino with more money then we brought in. Regarding the entertainment, it was between a two and a three. I will admit to being a snob. I grew up in NYC with the best theatre money could buy so I find most of the ship's shows overproduced and the talent very limited. I should also say that they tried very hard. I also think they are a step below the larger ships. The comic guitar player was the best overall performer on the cruise. We attented about 1/2 of the shows. I should however mentioned that we did attend the champagne waterfall. It actually was fun. Many of the passengers (including me) we able to "pour" with the Maitre D' and then there was some line dancing afterwards. The only other one I attended was on the Diamond, and we left very early since the crowd was enormous.
cruznliz Posted August 10, 2010 #10 Share Posted August 10, 2010 Thanks for your prompt reply! Hope I do as well in the casino. We always enjoy the comedians more than the production shows, mainly because we have seen all the production shows before. Of course we've seen many of the comedians before as well, but that doesn't seem to matter as much.;)
