Intercom system

On our last two cruises we have had an issue with the intercom in our cabin. When we turn it on we can hear the music that they pipe through, but we haven't been able to hear the annoucements from the captain or CD. Are we doing something wrong?

From what I understand, it is set up so that you DON'T hear the announcements in your cabin unless it is an emergency. We never hear the announcements either. Usually have to open the cabin door to hear them in the hall.

That's right....only emergencies are broadcast directly into your cabin.

I'd rather be able to hear the announcements in-room and have the option to shut them off if desired.

 

Usually by the time you realize there is an announcement it's nearly over by the time you open the cabin door to listen.

You forgot BINGO announcements, I seem to hear them a lot. LOL

I would like that as well. I was sure that we got all the annoucements piped into our stateroom on our first cruise on the Majesty... but that was a long time ago...

The announcements are primarily stuff that you can get from reading the Compass (bingo times, etc). You won't really miss anything if you just refer to your Compass. For emergencies, you will hear it from your cabin regardless of the settings (we know from experience).

You can usually tune your TV to a specific channel to hear announcements too.
